dsy_oi··on Ask HN: How did you significantly reduce your AWS cost?
Can you provide some details about your spot fleet algorithm ?
dsy_oi··on Releasing new version of Datacol(a self hosted PaaS on Google cloud)
Author here, will be glad to answer any questions you have. I have added following improvements into the new version -

* Provisioning and linking cloudsql postgres instance. [1]

* Streaming logs

* Support for Heroku Buildpack

dsy_oi··on How to provision an AWS VPC instance using Foreman
Can I get something to play with without entering my email ?
dsy_oi··on Ask HN: Deploying a web app to a VPS in 2017
I think you should use dokku[1], which is the simplest if you want to deploy on a VPS. Kubernetes, ECS are multi-node solutions and may not be ideal for you now.

dsy_oi··on Google Cloud Source Repositories now GA and free for five users and 50GB storage
You can create a trigger and start a build with container builder. Pretty powerful. (https://cloud.google.com/container-builder/docs/creating-bui...).

If you need more powerful CI/CD system on gcp, checkout www.datacol.io ( I am the author, so little biased )

dsy_oi··on Production ready AWS ECS with terraform
Looks great, will have a look.
dsy_oi··on Google Cloud Source Repositories now GA and free for five users and 50GB storage
Glad to see one more service becoming GA on GCP. I'm eagerly waiting for Postgres GA and managed redis, memcache.

I'm working on an open source[1] PaaS platform which makes integrating managed services a breeze and more accessible on GCP[2].

dsy_oi··on Heroku CI Is Now Generally Available
Datacol[1] provides Heroku like dev-UX on Google cloud. We are currently in alpha.

[1]: http://datacol.io

dsy_oi··on Why I Use Heroku
Heroku has really become a defacto standard in PaaS space. If you want to reduce the cost and have better control over your infra, there are several options available like Empire[1] and Datacol[2].

We (datacol.io) provide Heroku-like infrastructure in your cloud account (AWS/GCP). It's a modern Paas build around containers and kubernetes.

dsy_oi··on Show HN: Datacol – Get Private Heroku on Google Cloud
We will open source our CLI(core of the project) in couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

Deis Workflow and Datacol are similar in aim but very much different in implementation and approach. Datacol is tightly coupled and optimized for a cloud platform (http://datacol.io/docs/cloudsql/). It uses managed services under the hood, while Deis has its own components (router,object storage, postgres). Your pricing under Datacol will be lesser.

Pricing page is coming soon. We will charge for productivity and workflow tools. Stay tuned.

Thanks for your time. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey Folks, Founder of Datacol(http://datacol.io) here, We’d love your feedback on our product. We’ve been working hard on it for couple of months.

It can be installed inside your own account (GCP) and uses Container engine, Registry, CloudBuilder, and many other great GCP services under the hood but automates it all away to give you a better deployment experience.

For lazy ones, to see how to deploy a real world application like Mattermost with our CLI(https://goo.gl/j8kUXY).

It’s got a few rough edges but I think it’s usable and we have been using it ourselves. Would you love to use it ? why ? why not ? Thoughts ?
