drobati··on From Mac to Linux – the setup I've grown to love
You can if the people who are just working do manual steps that I do in one step. I write TONS of bash functions that end up automating everything my peers do manually.
drobati··on Learn Python the Hard Way
I met Zed Shaw in Atlanta during PyCon 2011 and I thought he was a pretty nice guy. People hate his opinions but the hate is unjustified.
drobati··on A girl who gets gifts from birds
I've always heard that crows are incredibly smart. Great story. :)
drobati··on Microsoft to invest in Cyanogen
I'm running CM12 on my OnePlus One right now and it's fantastic but I totally agree. There are a few other roms out there that I'm thinking about flashing.

I guess I should mention that I did have lots of bugs with CM11 but CM12 is running really stable for me. It's touch is way more responsive.

I also used Lollipop on Nexus 5 before I bought my OnePlus One and that was a bit more solid of an experience.

drobati··on Flappy Bird is proof that no one knows what the audience wants
I played the game twice and deleted it. High score was 3. I guess I have more sensibility then a lot of my peers.

drobati··on The worm that regrows its head, and memories, when decapitated
You're not mistaken.

"Because starfish like to eat clams and oysters, fishermen who gather shellfish have tried for years to get rid of them. To kill the starfish, fishermen would catch them, slice them right in half, and throw them back in the ocean. However, because starfish can grow back parts of their bodies, they were actually increasing the number of starfish." - Wiki on Starfish http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish

drobati··on Designers Complaining about iOS7
My Galaxy Nexus was riddled with terrible problems. I love Android and am not trolling. Android still has stability issues.

Unfortunately, my phone was stolen yesterday and now I'm back to using a dumbphone until I can find something better.

drobati··on What really happened at PyCon 2013
I have to admit; I read this title and rolled my eyes. I came back to it an hour later just out of curiosity and what a pleasant surprise!
drobati··on SimCity Burning: A Warning to Publishers on The Dangers of Always-Online DRM
Oh I'm sorry I misunderstood. Well at this point I guess we could say it's at least on pause and certainly not a success.
drobati··on SimCity Burning: A Warning to Publishers on The Dangers of Always-Online DRM
This is not the future of gaming. Look at how badly SimCity flopped.

Let me compare to DotA2 which I play a lot. It's exclusively multiplayer and thus needs an internet connection, yet it's free to play. How much have I spent on it? At this point at least $75+ dollars. THIS IS THE FUTURE OF GAMING.

Valve has the right model. I know valve didn't create the F2P model but it has implemented it the best as far as I know. They have pulled more money out of me giving me a free game then they would have made if they sold me 60+ copy.

EA should of just given out free copies of SimCity. Given out free copies with enough features to keep me entertained without the need to spend money. Then releasing toolsets for modders to create items; resell them to us for profit.

The DLC will surely be created but based on how EA conducts DLC in The Sims 3, I expect expensive expansions and stuffer packs.

drobati··on Throw Out Your Resume
How are you suppose to know how they will be dressed? Then, it is in fact appropriate to be the best dress rather then the worst dressed.
drobati··on Survey says Facebook still in use by young, but Snapchat/Instagram are real
I've had an instagram since it started and have watched friends slowly adopt. It really seemed to be catching fire in the past 3 months.

So in my experience I've found that people follow me but because the tool doesn't very easily show if someone follows you back, without digging back and forth through your followers, it's very easy to just unfollow the friends who don't provide content I care about.

It's more similar to Twitters model of pub/sub vs facebooks 1 to 1 dynamic. If I 'defriend' on facebook it forces you to defriend both ways right? I think facebook has made attempts at fixing this with subscriptions but ...

drobati··on What fraction of hackers uses something other than emacs or vim?
Where can we see the results?
drobati··on I didn't learn programming when I was 12
I didn't learn to program when I was 12. I learned to program when I was 8.
drobati··on Ask HN: Learn Subversion or Git?
Git would be cool to play in a distributive way between the students.

Doesn't resize on my 13" screen meaning I can't see content? Kind of weird.
drobati··on Here’s to the PHP Misfits
Who gives points to an article like this. It's just a opinion, with nothing informative in it? On that note, does HN have an extension like the Reddit Enhancement Suite, to maybe setup or hide posts I'm not interested in?
