I make them green, instead of gray. This makes my code ( IMHO ) much more readable. Also the comments ( when taken into consideration by the developer ) are one of the most important letters in the source code, so better be more visible than the keywords.
I don't really know why they cancelled it but I'm wearing Fitbit flex and later flex 2 since they entered the market and it's a divice that I'm used to wear and forget even when I'm asleep ( compared to the Apple Watch, which nevertheless needs daily charge and is simply too bulky to wear in bed ). I haven't found any decent competitors on that part and I'm honestly afraid of the wasted hours when I have to decide what to use as a replacement.
1. Don’t use a build system. Use scripting language that comes preinstalled on Debian / Ubuntu. Peel 5 is still my weapon of choice for robust small web apps. Look at python too.
2. Avoid JS / Ajax. I can bet that security restrictions will break it in the future, however good old form POST works still pretty good.
3. Use own hardware. Raspberry PI with HDD or some banana PI works quite allright. Also provisioning is easy by keeping a copy of your image.
4. Don’t use managed services. Use database on the very same machine that you host the app itself. Backup is an extra step you can achieve via those, but don’t use External service, since it will most probably break.
Freelancing gives you the opportunity to do your job, get your money and don't get involved in company policies. As a side-effect you pass interviews and have flexible working hours.
I'm not sure I can find a use case of such a big object declaration. Usually what you do is to get it from somewhere ( file, db - with nodejs, xhr ) where it's been parsed with JSON.parse anyway.
Unfortunately Fitbit decided to discontinue the display-less flex 2 and now I'm a bit confused on what to do next.
Side topic, but meat these days is quite expensive if you really take it from a quality manufacturer ( Bio meat in Germany costs 3 times more than the "regular" one ). You can imagine what kind of meat you get if you don't have to dig deep into your pocket for a meal.
The app should cost <20$ ( or be open sourced ) and it should have a huge eco-system of themes / plugins, including paid ones.
Sadly this app will never have an IPO or growth rate worth investing, but it will fix the problem ( for a while ).
Leaving information so far :

Not sure, but self-hosting was ( is ) the only way for me to sleep safe.
> Apache Kafka is an open-source stream-processing software platform developed by LinkedIn and donated to the Apache Software Foundation, written in Scala and Java. [1]
I assume the company has put the focus on the rockets ( as it should ) instead of the marketing, although they ( probably ) pay enough for developers / QA that can deliver the task right.
However I think that people loving the job are better than the ones that were learning for it, so no wonders sites like this exists.
And in any case I wouldn't go to a self-taught doctor, so something will probably change in the future.
`el.insertAdjacentElement`, really? Yeah if you carry jQuery thinking with you, you will probably want to translate the code literally and find substitute for everything. No... You can just use to recreate the part of the DOM that needs to be updated and replace it. It's faster to write and easier to read.
Anyway most of the arguments are not considering, vanilla JS + webpack / babel es6 + npm packages. In a world where side-effects are not well accepted anymore using jQuery is nightmare to maintain.
What's this fuzz about btw, I thought this argument was over?
`text-gray1` means what? Which library am I supposed to use in order to make this stylesheets work? Does it match tachyons or tailwind - no. So I have to add X lines of CSS to my project coming from a tool that I am not able to use once I change a simple class name? Not a good start.
In your tool an anti pattern that I found was that it seems to use inline styles and css class names of sort 'font-normal' 'text-gray1', etc. That's unmaintainable for large code base.
On the other hand having `copy CSS attributes` contextual menu item in Sketch is super productive. I can choose my own class name and whatsoever and still have the exact styles as the designer wanted them to be.
Example, 'x' and 'No'-answer :
- jQuery / prototypejs / etc...
- Backbone
- CoffeeScript
- Perl, SVN, Java Applets :D
On the other hand you still have 'Yes'-es for some old tech-stack, since it is still acceptable to do a task with old technology. Example, 'x' and 'Yes'-answer :
- Form + POST requests / No javascript
- Pure CSS ( no SCSS, etc... )
- Handlebars, instead of React / Vue / you name it
Gladly it’s not like you can’t have them both so there’s not an actual choice problem here. Just use whatever you want for the right job.
Every domain that I had expired was immediately bought by a company and this makes it hard
