This may or may not be on your radar, but crypto is desperate for a product like this. Smart contracts are often forks or rewrites (obfuscated or otherwise) of others and an easy interface for end users to be able to see changes between two forks would probably provide a lot of value.

This is all a function of interviews sucking right? Leet code is essentially completely independent from dev skill. Projects take too much commitment and time from the team and devs.

So, what option do teams have? Just hire the people that your good devs say are good is honestly the most effective practice that I've seen.

The papers I've read have shown LLM critics to be quite bad at their work. If you give an LLM a few known good and bad results, I think you'll see the LLM is just as likely to make good results bad as it is to make bad results good.

The problem with shotguns is that you either have a small number of pellets (12ga) or a small amount of mass to do damage (bird shot). So with 12ga specifically, while it's more effective than a rifle round -- the pellets spread quickly enough that it's only a huge advantage when the drone is in the terminal phase. This is why in WW2, they would put timed fuses inside the AA shells so that they didn't have to hit the aircraft directly with the shell but the round didn't spread so far that it was useless.

This is probably misguided. Apple includes the OS version number in the user agent, so an attacker can actually pay to have code delivered only to users with vulnerable versions of MacOS. (advertising marketplaces allow bidding by user agent)

So the canonical solution to this is to use Bazel. The reason I did not end up using Bazel is because it is a pita to manage and I didn't have enough time to allocate to this problem to implement the FAANG solution.

The shell scripts I wrote are a painful, but less painful than dealing with Bazel.

Nix calls them "derivations", but yeah you're right again. Lots of weird language in this space.

Specifically, we use this nix project [1] which provides a nice translation layer between a poetry project and a nix derivation. It allows our devs to use poetry where they want (with local relative paths in the pyproject.toml) and ci/cd to have more granular control of deps at build time.

There are some corner cases. As you correctly guessed, some more obscure python libraries might require a few extra lines (i.e. to specify that this package needs setuptools etc). of code.

Do you have no external dependencies at all?

So you can do a somewhat hacky thing with poetry workspaces to get the first one to contain multiple binaries like i.e. https://github.com/bleu/balpy-poc

But yes, you're right -- Bazel is the most correct monorepo solution. We started with a combination of the second structure, poetry, and shell scripts but have since moved to nix.

So, you have two choices for directory layout in mono

in which case you need to be careful about when your dependencies get installed during deployment because ie pytorch can be ~500mb

your other option is

which means you need to come up with a bespoke dependency management solution. in either case, you're doing dependency management.

I encourage you to google "monorepo {python, poetry, pip}" and you're going to land on many multiple page blog posts describe arcane dependency management solutions.

I would really encourage you to try your hand at at a monorepo. I manage a python monorepo in prod and dependency management is hell. Poetry has some newer features that I am looking at trying to implement, but the state of the ecosystem wrt big monorepos is horrible.

Do you intend to get to feature parity with pyright for ruff-lsp? I wasn't aware you were aiming to make it a full fledged lsp, despite using it daily.
