dorian-graph··on Zerostack – A Unix-inspired coding agent written in pure Rust
It was previously JS/TS, but they rewrote it in Rust, sometime in the past 12 months.
dorian-graph··on Cloudflare claimed they implemented Matrix on Cloudflare workers. They didn't
You jest, but I was listening to a podcast episode today by the Changelog, and this guy was effusive how AI will replace SaaS, etc. and when asked about reviewing, said no one can do it well, so they don't/won't do it for key internal software they vibecoded.
dorian-graph··on Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal
> you assume “the left” (globally!?) is in support of the Ayatollah?

Where did I imply that, justonceokay? And no, I don't think every leftist supports the Ayatollah. Do you think every leftist, globally, doesn't support them?

I was as vague as you were, in referring to leftists. I gave a concrete example of there being confusion about who the bad guys, since you questioned why leftists (or anyone) would be confused.

dorian-graph··on Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal
> Why would leftists (or anyone) be confused who the bad guy is here?

Because there are literally pro-Palestine protests that have supporters of Iran's supreme leader[1].

I've seen a lot of comments and sentiment from leftists in support of Iran.

What bug(s) do you have, that you didn't know this?

That's not true though, is it?

dorian-graph··on Using FreeBSD to make self-hosting fun again
Appreciated, thank you!
dorian-graph··on Using FreeBSD to make self-hosting fun again
How's the UX for jails these days? I remember trying to use it barebones and also some of the wrappers.
dorian-graph··on MinIO stops distributing free Docker images
Why not talk about other parts of coexisting with humans? Parasitical relationships, having to learn and adapt, communicating your needs instead of making assumptions, etc.?
dorian-graph··on Emacs agent-shell (powered by ACP)
I've used it a few times now. It's a really smooth experience for quite a new package.
dorian-graph··on Show HN: Semantic grep with local embeddings
There's also https://github.com/bartolli/codanna, that's similarly new. I'll have to try that again, and this one.
dorian-graph··on AI tooling must be disclosed for contributions
> This seems very noisy/unhelpful.

The irony of this, when talking about AI.

dorian-graph··on Efrit: A native elisp coding agent running in Emacs
There's also https://github.com/MiniApollo/kickstart.emacs.
dorian-graph··on Show HN: Kitten TTS – 25MB CPU-Only, Open-Source TTS Model
It's not possible so far via Bumblebee, unfortunately[1].

dorian-graph··on Job-seekers are dodging AI interviewers
> Let’s face it: the candidates who want to work at Coinbase are as enthusiastic about AI as we are. They, like us, are optimistic about the future of this (and all) technology.

Yet Anthropic didn't want people to use AI as part of interviewing for them.

dorian-graph··on TODOs Aren't for Doing
What does it mean to be lost? Why would a TODO comment not be lost, versus a comment without that prefix?

dorian-graph··on Apple announces Foundation Models and Containerization frameworks, etc
Yes! In another comment of mine, that was the main thing I mentioned, haha.

- New theme inspired by Liquid Glass

- 24-bit colour

- Powerline fonts

dorian-graph··on Apple announces Foundation Models and Containerization frameworks, etc
I've tried all of them, including ones that yourself, and others, haven't mentioned like Rio. I stand by wanting Terminal.app simply updated with better colour support, then it's one less alternative program to get.
dorian-graph··on Apple announces Foundation Models and Containerization frameworks, etc
Will they ever update Terminal.app?
dorian-graph··on Mozilla to shut down Pocket and Fakespot
Do you have a trick for getting the images as well, as opposed to them being links to the remotely hosted?
dorian-graph··on Espanso – Cross-Platform Text Expander Written in Rust
I know it's not perhaps helpful, but I have the _exact_ same code, and it's worked for ages on macOS. Do other matches work correctly?

I have it in `~/.config/espanso/match/base.yml`.

dorian-graph··on ClojureScript 1.12.42
Is that not true for any programming language?
dorian-graph··on A Research Preview of Codex
Who says they are doing that?

The _instead_ was a key word in my comment. I didn’t say, or imply, they weren’t working on replacing other roles with AI.

dorian-graph··on A Research Preview of Codex
This hyper-fixation on replacing engineers in writing code is hilarious, and dangerous, to me. Many people, even in tech companies, have no idea how software is built, maintained, and run.

I think instead we should focus on getting rid of managers and product owners.

dorian-graph··on What I've Learned from JJ
This has annoyed me a few times, just recently a week ago. Thanks GitHub.
dorian-graph··on What I've learned from jj
Another person has commented that you can do this, but it's a little known thing. git-spice automatically manages it for you too.
dorian-graph··on What I've learned from jj
Like the author, I'd appreciate a stacked PRs approach, integrated with GitHub (unfortunately). E.g. `a → b → c → d` where I have PRs open for `b`, `c` and not yet on `d`, that are "linked" to the jj changes. So 1 change per PR or it could even be multiple. I've lately become a huge fan of git-spice, that just works.
dorian-graph··on What I've learned from jj
It's maddening, considering their size, and that there are proven other examples out there of versioned change sets and divorcing the commit ID from the content ID.
