dontTREATonme··on Personal aviation is about to get interesting (2023)
Wow, private flying really is for the rich. $1700 to fly cross country and it’s still 3 hours longer than flying commercial.
dontTREATonme··on The daily life of a medieval king
I always question how accurate these types of accounts were. Even if she wrote this after his death, his successor obviously wouldn’t look too kindly on it being disparaging.
dontTREATonme··on My bank keeps on undermining anti-phishing education
I recently joined a very old company, with many lifers, I continuously run into this mentality. “I can’t explain it now, but I’m sure there was a good reason for it, so we’re gonna continue doing it this way”
dontTREATonme··on Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 Incident on July 14, 2025
What’s your recommendation for finding the dns resolver closest to me? I currently use 1.1 and 8.8, but I’m absolutely open to alternatives.
dontTREATonme··on Let me pay for Firefox
There are many NFPs with multi-billion dollar endowments, I don’t really understand this line of reasoning…
dontTREATonme··on Let me pay for Firefox
That’s not how NFPs work. I’m on the board of a NFP, we absolutely are able to save money year to year. The big difference between us and a regular corp is we don’t have shareholders or paid board members.
dontTREATonme··on The North Korean fake IT worker problem is ubiquitous
Ah yes, bec that’s worked out so well with china.

Anyone with internet access in NK is working at the behest of the government.

dontTREATonme··on Supreme Court's ruling practically wipes out free speech for sex writing online
It is impossible to pause puberty or any other biological process. You cannot delay and restart something that is biologically time-bound. By giving a child puberty blockers you permanently prevent them from becoming an adult. They will never develop any of the features required for having children, they will never experience the brain developments that help with reasoning and empathy.

There are no studies on this Bec doing such studies is considered grossly unethical and evil, same as studying brain lobotomies in infants. As such we have no science on this, there are just people who have decided one thing and are performing live experiments without any controls. However, it should be noted that until very recently there was no significant incidence of unexplained child suicide, there was no significant incidence of unexplained teenage suicide, nor was there a significant incidence of unexplained young adult suicide. This is 100% social contagion, exacerbated by evil greedy pharmaceutical orgs who have latched on to small childhood insecurities and used them to build a multi-billion dollar industry mutilating and disfiguring healthy people.

dontTREATonme··on Trump says both Iran and Israel violated a ceasefire
He would of course use his super intelligence and alien space lasers to target only the people actually launching the rockets, his from-the-future space lasers are so accurate and advanced that there is no possibility of collateral damage. He would be able to then explain to the “civilians” who until 10 minutes ago were cheering for his demise that akctually he’s on their side and they don’t really hate him and therefore bec he knows them better than they know themselves they will magically stop supporting their brothers, fathers, uncles, and cousins who have spent their entire lives trying to kill him and instead all those people will suddenly realize that he alone is their savior and thus there will be peace.

The above is the actual complete thought process of all the people who casually complain about what Israel is doing without any understanding of the history or the region.

dontTREATonme··on Basically Everyone Should Be Avoiding Docker
I like docker because it makes it super easy to try out apps that I don’t necessarily know that I want and I can just delete it.

I’m also confused about the claim that there is no config file… everyone I know uses docker compose, that’s really the only right way to use docker, using a single docker command is for testing or something, if you’re actually using the app long term, use docker compose. Also most apps I use do have a specific place you can set for configuration in the docker compose file.

Is there a significant difference between this and nginx proxy manager?
dontTREATonme··on Next month, saved passwords will no longer be in Microsoft’s Authenticator app
My first experience with passkeys was eBay. They implemented them 3-4 years ago, and my password manager, Dashlane picked up on it. They offered to save it and I wouldn’t have to enter a username or password. Great, seemed to work. Until I needed to login on another device and then Dashlane saved that passkey too, but each passkey was tied to the specific device… only it wasn’t clear when I logged in which passkey I should choose, and chose the wrong one and it doesn’t work. After having like 6 different passkeys for eBay I gave up. Now I always decline to use passkeys. They don’t work, idk who uses them but as a fairly tech savvy user, without a very complex setup (chrome, with Dashlane installed) if it’s not working for me it’s probably just not working.

I’ll also add. I don’t have a good mental model for what a passkey is or how it works. And again, like most users if I don’t really understand what’s going on I’m just not gonna bother with it. For all the complexity that it takes to implement secure login with a username and password, most of it is hidden from the user, with passkeys it feels like they’re shoving all the complexity front and center, but not explaining any of it.

dontTREATonme··on What Happens After A.I. Destroys College Writing?
Google docs probably isn’t even the best tool for the job, blackboard or one of the other edu mafia platforms will build some sort of halfway decent app that will check for typing vs just copy pasting as well as other indicators.
dontTREATonme··on Trump announces Israel-Iran ceasefire
Looks like it’s holding…
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Totally false. Every single palestinian org has been founded by and for Muslims.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
You can be a paper tiger and still pretty dangerous if you’re able to acquire nuclear weapons.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
This is serious cope. Iran has never held back, they always go full tilt. They simply are the same paper tiger that Russia is, just now without the ability to produce nukes.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
In 1947 when they chose to leave. In 1948-1967 when the Arab states controlled 95% of the land that these Arabs want to return to. Wars have consequences, if you initiate a war and lose, you’re not gonna get everything back. That’s the risk of war.

I have no idea what “legally affirmed” means in the context of sovereign states. The UN, or even the UNSC passing something doesn’t actually mean anything as it applies to sovereign nations. Paraphrasing Andrew Jackson: a law is only as good as the ability to enforce it. A bunch of random people agreeing to something even if they call themselves “The United Nations” doesn’t mean anything if that group of friends doesn’t have the will or ability to enforce whatever they’ve agreed to. They’re akin to you and your drinking buddies passing out edicts after one to many dry martinis.

dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Oh lol. So you’re just ignorant. There was no serious attempt at western colonialism in Judea and Samaria or any part of the ME. As soon as the Ottoman Empire fell the LoN immediately created a plan for self rule in that area that ended up having a shorter timeline than the occupation of Germany following WWII. Look up when Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, etc all became independent nations. Even Israel’s timeline from the end of WWI to its establishment was less than 30 years.

“Violent Zionism” was inconsequential in comparison to the violence the Muslim population visited upon their Jewish (Zionist) neighbors/subjects/citizens from 700CE when Islam was formed through 1947 when the partition plan was proposed, and all the way to the present day.

So again, I say, you’re dehumanizing Muslims by refusing to acknowledge that they are responsible for their own actions. Because even if everything you claim was true (it isn’t), you are still claiming they are not capable of bearing responsibility for their own actions and instead any violence they commit is the responsibility of nebulous “western colonialism” and inchoate “violent zionism”. The bigotry requires to totally remove an entire religion’s agency is, as I said before: breathtaking.

dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
You’re speaking in innuendo so I’m responding in kind. Plainly state your argument, which you haven’t done yet, instead opting for an odd vaguely veiled bigotry about Muslims’ ability to make their own choices.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Houthis and Hezbollah are both arms of Iranian regime, acting directly under IRGC direction.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
You’re missing the point because you’re so unaware of your own enormous bigotry.

All Muslims have their own agency. They are all humans capable of making their own decisions. And like all humans are happy to be held responsible for the decisions they make.

You do not believe the above.

dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Iran has been attacking Israel for the last 30 years and everyone seems to agree that Israel has nukes… so clearly nukes don’t actually work as a deterrent, unless (again according to many comments here) you attack a genocidal state who’s only goal is to kill everyone but not use the only weapon at your disposal that can actually accomplish that goal.

Iraq also attacked an allegedly nuclear capable Israel without fear of a nuclear reprisal.

dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
And here you are continuing to dehumanize and remove all agency for an entire religion now. Truly the bigotry required to hold these beliefs is breathtaking.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Right because slaves in the American south were offered freedom tens of times but refused it always bec it might have involved some compromise they didn’t like. These childish comparisons don’t even pass the sniff test.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
They dropped six.
dontTREATonme··on U.S. bombs Iranian nuclear sites
Can you name a single Palestinian who has actually moved the needle on a functioning democratic Palestinian state? Every single current and former Palestinian leader has been heavily theocratic, has pledged to kill Jews wherever they are and has never considered sharing any of whatever power he’s gotten with anyone else.
dontTREATonme··on Missiles That Destroyed Air Defenses from Inside Iran Were Remotely Operated
Turns out anyone can create an insurgency. You don’t need to actually live there, or be a citizen, and you certainly don’t need to be poorly trained and equipped, you can show up with all the tools you can muster and operate just like a terror cell.
