I totally agree. The internet is where people live now and there is no "commons", no "public square". This is where people get so irritated with private companies that own all the space and decide how we interact. The internet is a libertarian dystopia. Things like "free speech" would apply on public social media platforms. If this idea were ever to come to fruition it would probably need to start at the local scale and focus on local political issues.
do you know the long term success rate though? I've lost over 50 pounds and kept it off for a couple of years, but my body eventually went back to it's normal weight.
Isn't existentialism the cure for nihilism? It doesn't matter to the universe, but it matters to ME. I exist. From this we are left with the heavy burden of deciding what we think is good and bad, right and wrong.
I disagree that copyright is a natural right. It is a right that societies bestow to creators to incentive them to create. It has not valid purpose beyond that and is quite unnatural to me.Part of the problem with today's law is that it is being pushed as a natural right and a form of justice. This is a fairly recent development, historically speaking.
You have no idea what you are talking about and are projecting your own life experience on the many people who have actually experienced trauma. It's not something that can't be measured. It's very real and has clear cut physiological risks.
If the engineer who wrote the code understood the problem well and was a decent engineer, then the code will be maintainable no matter what the language is. Understanding the problem well is very rarely achieved.
I've been using it for batch data transformation tasks at Embedly. It's still early and things can still change, but it's starting to stabilize. Tell me what you think about the gross abuse of the __or__ operator. I love it, but if I'm alone, I can remove it, or at least remove it from example code.
You're right. It's just one categorization of many. I might have more in common with a person who grew up in the same socioeconomic situation as me, but is separated by 30 years, then with someone born the same year as me with a vastly different socioeconomic background.
"The wealthy working people have earned their right to live in the city. They went out, got an education, work hard, and earned it. I shouldn’t have to worry about being accosted."
I hope to god this guy didn't come from affluence.
What this means is git doesn't make sure that blobs match shas on fetch. Malicious control of source or network can insert nasty things and git won't notice. Solution is setting transfer.fsckobjects = true.
Yes. All other things being equal(and they are, for the most part), if you save 10% of your salary a year, you are going to be a lot wealthier upon retirement living in the higher cost of living place. If you want to maximize your retirement fund, you should be looking to move to the place with the highest cost of living possible.
It's interesting that I've had the complete opposite experience as a white man. The older I get the more respect I get in public, for no apparent reason. The painting example was so apt. No one would dare step between me and a painting. It's a very odd thing, as I don't feel like I deserve any more respect than I did 20 years ago.
