dnnddidiej··on Mythical Man Month
I think if you build out simple sites it is 10x. That number tends to 1x as the project gets more complex.

Side projects where you try an idea are you not finding 1h now to do what was 10h work?

dnnddidiej··on AI is breaking two vulnerability cultures
We could get somewhere where clouds can provide a framework of secure primitives that act as a framework.

E.g. you build an app, it stores data via api etc. etc. You can test in sandbox. The cloud deploys for customer who paid you via that cloud and you work at arms length. You may not even know their name. You just get the pro subscription fees.

The idea bubbling in my head would be an app store for cloud products. But with competition i.e. you use Railway or Heroku or AWS for the best deal.

Be gentle this is an idea in my head I am sure it can be torn down by a retort at this stage. But this exists in forms and I think it will emerge. It is inversion of control at the entire app level.

This is similar to buying a hammer. If you make hammers you sell them to a store, the store knows the customer and only the customer can see the nails.

dnnddidiej··on Agents need control flow, not more prompts
It a heisenberg satire because more agents going wild is indeed horrible but agents restricting and counterbalancing each other can be useful (token cost ignored!).
dnnddidiej··on Agents need control flow, not more prompts
You can't be sure but the point is you can be more sure, since agent 2 ("agent" which is really just a fancy way of saying some code that calls anthropics api) has only the context to look for a violation of a single rule.
dnnddidiej··on GeoJSON
Looks like what any sensible dev would come up with if asked to "return this geo data as json". I like simple!
dnnddidiej··on Poland is now among the 20 largest economies
What... are you really belittling democracy
dnnddidiej··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
PE ratio too high!

Sir, that is price/revenue ratio

(jawdrop)

dnnddidiej··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
Oh less than Atlassian. Suprised.
dnnddidiej··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
Aka bullshit
dnnddidiej··on Rumors of my death are slightly exaggerated
HN is fun sometimes
dnnddidiej··on Canvas online again as ShinyHunters threatens to leak schools’ data
Computer science != software engineering.
dnnddidiej··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% workforce
100x-ing with claude. Code not outcomes, but still!

Serious note you dont really hire interns. They are a contractor (and hopefully apprentice who is looked after) really.

dnnddidiej··on I want to live like Costco people
And browse and grab and queue because there is nothing else to do!
dnnddidiej··on I want to live like Costco people
If there is wine on the dog, i I'm 100% in.
dnnddidiej··on Appearing productive in the workplace
He needed his weights adjusted.
dnnddidiej··on Appearing productive in the workplace
I have heard this done on LinkedIn which is heavily botted. Did you do this with a real work chat though?
dnnddidiej··on Appearing productive in the workplace
Imagine you hire an Engineer in your team. You find out he can't code. Yout have 4 major projects due this quarter. Are you going to become his 1-1 tutor from zero to 10 yoe hero coder in 3 months. Because he doesn't need help, he needs a time machine. (slop intended)
dnnddidiej··on Appearing productive in the workplace
s/betray/portray/ ?
dnnddidiej··on From Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth
Emperor, meet clothes.
dnnddidiej··on From Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth
Do you say the same about AWS RDS. Are you saying VMs is all you need and it is a doddle for anyone with FE only experience to set up, maintain and scale.
dnnddidiej··on Why most product tours get skipped
Yeah product tour is like a popup or cookie banner you just wanna close that shit down. It is something that seems like a good idea and maybe even required for polish, like a 3 column pricing page and an oauth login, but think we are better off without it.

Instead add the killer feature: a feature search box ala Google Docs.

dnnddidiej··on Why most product tours get skipped
Hell yeah, fuck does anyone do those tours? Feels like an emperors new clothes.
dnnddidiej··on Three Inverse Laws of AI
> I wish that each such generative AI service came with a brief but conspicuous warning explaining that these systems can sometimes produce output that is factually incorrect, misleading or incomplete.

EU. Nudge nudge. We need this law.

dnnddidiej··on Write some software, give it away for free
No. You, so need to hoodwink me into paying it. Better yet hoodwink my kid.

dnnddidiej··on DNSSEC disruption affecting .de domains – Resolved
That squint loses too much nuance. I don't think of a site data leak as an availiability problem.

Bad UX and bugs are in general not always an availiability problem.

If it hard to get what you want due to bad design but the site is up, the site is still up.

dnnddidiej··on .de TLD offline due to DNSSEC?
Took more than cloud flares?
dnnddidiej··on Empty Screenings – Finds AMC movie screenings with few or no tickets sold
A mix. Prebuying is useful for your Barbie or Oppenheimer. Also good idea for kids birthday parties.
dnnddidiej··on Empty Screenings – Finds AMC movie screenings with few or no tickets sold
Wow. Was there any premier viewings on the spools you moved?
dnnddidiej··on Talking to strangers at the gym
Good on ya! You did really well. 10/10. I don't think gym really is the only option but you made it work well so who cares.
