When I'm not working 50 hours a week with several side projects on top of my responsibilities as a husband and father, I'd like to pick it back up.

I did pretty well on the last two in 2008. Hopefully I can keep it up while making the first two happen.
Why can't Science and Religion complement each other? I don't believe in the 7-day creation, but that doesn't mean there's no higher power that played a role in the big bang, creation of life, and subsequent evolution.
The biggest problem Religion has is its resistance to change. The Bible was written thousands of years ago, across many centuries. It was written for its own time. As our knowledge and understanding of the world around us and the universe at large changes, so must our interpretation of the Bible.
It may sound lame, but the movie Dogma had a profound impact on my religious beliefs. Dick and fart jokes aside, the message that it is better to have a good idea rather than strict beliefs has stuck with me since I first watched it many years ago. The humor may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is worth watching once.
And I agree about playing with real-life friends vs. online people. I took a two-year break from the game just because all of my friends dropped out for various reasons. Only just got back into it a few months ago to play with the family.
Depends on what you're smoking. See: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=238579
I also put in ~50 hours/week into my job at a startup, and have been told I write good code. I'd wager I'm not a bad employee.
I'd agree that WoW addicts wouldn't make great employees. However, there's a huge difference between a WoW addict and a WoW player, please don't lump us together.
I'd like to say that. But this is, after all, the Internet.
If the Mac and Linux versions are initially released as beta, it seems odd to me to have one product in differing states of 'completeness' on different platforms.
However, I can't imagine that Google would give the Mac or Linux versions the gold star seal of approval right off the bat.
Does anyone know about the status of the non-Windows versions of Chrome? It'd really be nice to use it, but I use a MacBook Pro at work and Ubuntu on my dsktop at home.
We need a "disable override" function.
Every time I reformat my windows machine I have to manually download and install all the programs I use. So what about the ability to create common configurations? Or tag apps?
You could simply click "Install all apps tagged with 'X'", go make dinner, and and come back to a machine that's ready to go. For those who reformat often or are always setting up new vbox/vmware instances (like me), this would be very handy. Of course, it also depends on which apps are available.
Note: I have not yet used BaseShield, so if something like this is already in place, ignore me.
I don't use Windows, but I would be more than happy to recommend BaseShield to others that do if I only knew what apps were available.
I currently have a F/T job at a bay-area startup (which I don't want to leave), but am extremely interested in supplementing my income with some consulting/contract gigs.
A few days after my post, Eric Florenzano put up a how-to for multi-db support in Django:

http://groups.google.com/group/django-developers/browse_thre...
Also, according to JKM, Django 1.0 does suport multi-db, it's just undocumented and at a lower level:

HTH.
Request: Please add support for non-www domain. It took me a few minutes to realize why I was getting 404'd on my phone but not in FireFox.
But I'm not a malicious person, so I'll only reboot it just to check it out.
...Except we didn't get a single trick-or-treater, so I spent my time downing a bottle of two buck chuck and installing Ubuntu 8.10. :)
You are correct on the SDK terms, I had completely forgotten about that. IIRC, Opera would be considered an emulator since it allow you to run Javascript, yes?
...and the story about Apple declining "competing" applications is months old too.
Which is exactly why I said it's no surprise that Opera was turned down, although there is obviously much more to the story.
I'm sorry for ribbing you for wanting to work on Android; I'm just being snarky...
No need to apologize, I hadn't taken any offense.
...although I really don't share your politics.
I assume that by "politics" you mean my feelings towards openness, choice, and F/OSS (since we seem to have similar feelings towards US politics, but I digress).
All I'm saying is that options are good. Apple limits your options with the iPhone, so I'm looking forward to getting an Android phone in the future.
I think they were testing the waters to see how Apple would react to a larger and much better-known company putting a competing product into the app store. Unsurprisingly, Apple did the same thing they've always done.
You're going to be the one geek in the room with the Android phone and the Nomad MP3 player, you know. =)
That fine, as long as I have the choice to be that geek. That's what attracts me (and other geeks, I'm sure) to Android the most: I have choices. If I don't like the default media player, I can install another one (or, barring that, write my own) without fear that the Almighty Apple will lay the smackdown.
I can't wait for Android to be released on a decent handset. Then I can give my iPhone to my wife.
