dismal2··on Banksy Dismaland Show Revealed at Weston's Tropicana
Hasn't this already been covered on this season of Bojack Horseman?
dismal2··on Three hundred programming interviews in thirty days
So you're interviewing someone and basing a large part of the experience on something that would otherwise happen maybe 0.1% of the time? Also that CEO sounds like an asshole.
dismal2··on Jonathan James and Aaron Swartz-Two Obituaries One Prosecutor
Theft is an outdated concept in a world were you can make infinite copies for free. Or is your argument, "you wouldn't pirate... A car!"?
dismal2··on A Fascinating Minimum-Wage Experiment Is About to Unfold
This debate would be a lot simpler if we just agreed to eat the poor.
dismal2··on What Are Traffic Waves and Why Do They Happen So Much?
If you're in the left lane and going slower than the guy behind you, pull to the right. I wish people in America would be taught this, I'm amazed at how often light traffic I encounter is from a few people meandering in the left most lanes and then everyone behind just matching their speed. Obviously does nothing about major traffic but still annoying. Besides that, people need to stop thinking of driving as a competition and let others change lanes and merge. I'd like to think those 2 things would help the situation a bit.
dismal2··on Policing, Mass Imprisonment, and the Failure of American Lawyers
The war on drugs is directly related to what you are talking about.
dismal2··on Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Graphics Study
my hack for boss fights (which I also hated): hoard frag and emp grenades and mines through the whole game just for that purpose
dismal2··on Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Graphics Study
Well the writing had some weak spots for sure, I was mostly talking about how the slick cyberpunk atmosphere, visuals and soundtrack were so appealing to me that I wanted to go back to experience and explore it.

Also, I did feel there was a bit of an enemy progression throughout the game (cloaking troops, bigger bots), but it was mostly just more complex level design, which in a way I prefer to just "tougher" enemies. I think this was kind of necessary for supporting a pacifist play style.

dismal2··on Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Graphics Study
HR was one of the few games I replayed multiple times and the level of design and atmosphere was one of the main reasons for going back, just to spend some more time in it's moody world. Can't wait for the next one either! Looks very impressive from the small peaks they have given: https://community.eidosmontreal.com/blog/dawn-engine

I'm hoping that they address one of the main letdowns of Human Revolution, that the hub environments were a bit sparse and lacking more NPCs to make them feel like real locations. I listened to the game commentary and apparently that was simple a limitation of the engine they used.

dismal2··on Twitter Reports Weak Earnings and the Stock Is Crashing
> “It calls into question why they didn’t see this coming,” said Victor Anthony, an analyst at Axiom Capital Management, who has a buy rating on Twitter’s stock. “I don’t think anyone ever questioned their ability to generate revenues.”

Hmm, I thought everybody did? I guess wall street really does have a clear view of this whole tech scene.

dismal2··on Best, Brightest – and Saddest?
we need more psychedelics
dismal2··on What's the use for Bitcoin?
So are you going to vote for the guy who opened Guantanamo and started illegal wars that cost thousands of innocent lives of the guy who won't close Guantanamo and uses robots to kill thousands of people with no oversight who end up being classified as enemy combatants as long as they are male, Arab, and of fighting age? Or maybe the leader who illegally spies on all the citizens of his country or the other guy who will do exactly the same thing. Decisions decisions...
dismal2··on What's the use for Bitcoin?
Go ahead and vote for the next FED chairman!

dismal2··on After Snowden, the NSA Faces Recruitment Challenge
you can't really opt out of facebook, if you interact with ever a few people who are on it, you're as good as on it.
dismal2··on Amazon Dash Button
I have been using the Amazon "scan" function (in the app) a lot recently and I really doesn't think it gets any easier than that to reorder things you're running low on. I don't need a freaking button I will need to configure, hope it uses the right payment method and address, hope it I didn't just press it a few days ago... etc.
dismal2··on Amazon Dash Button
When I clicked I was expecting some kind of custom hardware interface for AWS...
dismal2··on “Today we moved into our new Facebook building”
Not being snide, but I REALLY do want to see a picture of a work desk (imagine it would be one of those standing/sitting electronic ones) and a chair and a computer! Or is that confidential info?
dismal2··on Why are interest rates so low?
Money is absolutely debt, are you claiming that it isn't?
dismal2··on American Millennials are among the world's least skilled
Good way to explain away the lack of jobs and wage growth this generation faces. I think the solution is either more unpaid internships, more debt or both.
dismal2··on A Strong Welfare State Produces More Entrepreneurs
Yeah, I think people are confusing terms here. I'm not sure what the global trend is but this is an interesting article:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/on-small-business/wp/2015...

I could see a lack of social safety nets, increased costs/risks of safely running a compliant business and corporate consolidation being behind this trend...

dismal2··on One Professional Russian Troll Tells All
I'll wait for RT to write a retort and just ignore both of these government mouth pieces.
dismal2··on Tech Bubble? Maybe, Maybe Not
Talking about a tech bubble in the current 0% interest rate (negative in some countries), QE state of global finance is like complaining about a flooded basement when a tsunami is about to come in. Economic incentives have been so distorted for so long that the tech sector is probably one of the healthier ones.

dismal2··on Flash Boys a Year Later
Yeah, the possibility to front run every order by 3 nano seconds because your server is a few miles closer to the exchange is really making the world a better place
dismal2··on The new MacBook
I remember in collage (2000's) when everyone just started to get laptop and before magsafe macbooks the broken power ports were THE cause for people breaking their laptops. Sometimes repair shops could fix this but usually the motherboard was damaged and you just had to get a new machine. Sad to see it go, it was a brilliant idea.
dismal2··on Hello, World
I got the sense from the article that he wasn't just farming, maybe he is doing some form of sustainable living but he says he's building tiny houses too which would probably be the main income.
