dimgl··on A custom virtual machine for the Stars 4X game
Oh my God, I thought I was the only one who remembered this game!
dimgl··on Bend 2 and the Vibe-Coding Trap
Why is it mean? The author is above critique?
dimgl··on Real-SWE: Benchmarking AI models on private, real-world, enterprise codebases
I found 5.6 Sol to be extremely underwhelming.
dimgl··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
I think this whole "that half" and "this half" thing makes it significantly harder to hold people in the government accountable. I know plenty of conservative people who think the corruption in the government is out of control.
dimgl··on Google Antigravity TOS: 3rd party usage can get Google account suspended
Err... the harness I'm building works just fine with Google APIs.
dimgl··on Google Antigravity TOS: 3rd party usage can get Google account suspended
I'm currently working on a harness and I just integrated Antigravity support through `agy`. I can't risk my main Google account getting banned so it looks like I'll be stopping this immediately. Yikes... and I was feeling good about 3.8 Flash too...
dimgl··on Muse Spark 1.3
I'll use both Muse Spark and Grok.
dimgl··on Get your Windows license refund
Switched to Arch Linux with GNOME. Whenever an issue comes up, I have an AI agent look into it and it gets done. Worth it to get off of Windows.
dimgl··on GPT-5.6 Sol Pricing Cut by 50%
But OP said they've never used it. How would they know?
dimgl··on GPT-5.6 Sol Pricing Cut by 50%
Yep. I have not yet had a single good experience with Sol or the 5.6 models on a variety of harnesses and configurations. It overthinks, overcomplicates and often makes my code into an unmaintainable sludge. It'll usually take 5+ turns of steering to get it in the right direction.
dimgl··on GPT-5.6 Sol Pricing Cut by 50% on OpenRouter
Why not?
dimgl··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
Congratulations: now only AI can iterate on your codebase!
dimgl··on Incident with Github.com [resolved]
Twitter is unstable? I can't remember the last time it had an outage.
dimgl··on Incident with Github.com
What if you, you know, have a job?
dimgl··on GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities
I was extremely impressed by GLM 5.2, although you could definitely _feel_ it was a bit behind Opus 4.8 at the time. Eager to see where GLM 5.3 is at.
dimgl··on Go is an ideal language for AI-assisted software engineering
It was and is a logical argument. Both C and Rust are much harder to learn.
dimgl··on Go is an ideal language for AI-assisted software engineering
I've never found that Go is not fun to write. On the contrary... Go is pretty refreshing with its simplicity. I found myself to be immensely productive writing Go.
dimgl··on Go is an ideal language for AI-assisted software engineering
I'm currently writing a TUI for a harness I'm building in Go. It's a magical experience, truly.
dimgl··on Windows 11's built-in Weather app wastes more than 1 GB of RAM
Been using Gnome on Arch, it's been unbelievably stable
dimgl··on Windows 11's built-in Weather app wastes more than 1 GB of RAM
> Easy workaround for this

Wipe Windows from your machine. Use Arch Linux. Problem solved.

dimgl··on “Code was never the hard part” is an insult to all programmers
> Code was never the hard part

And yet I spent a majority of my career fixing mistakes, including my own

dimgl··on Taste Is All That's Left
> I think AI slop code is going to be a much bigger problem than people anticipate.

I'm seeing the same thing. Of course, it's always possible that AI capabilities grow significantly from here and this worry is moot (and there will be other things to worry about, like whether I'll have a job). But seriously, after a while AI generated codebases really fall apart.

It's a bit of cope from me that this problem won't be solved in the future, but I'm also really disappointed with how many people really do not care about writing high-quality software that is easy to understand, performant, and resilient to bugs. Like, why did you decide to work on software in the first place?

I think we're going to see some pretty careless mistakes in the future that will result in a lot of pain...

dimgl··on A $500 RL fine-tune of a 9B open model beat frontier models on catalog review
It's also really hard. And you need a lot of data for the fine tuning to produce good results.
dimgl··on LG monitors silently install software through Windows Update without consent
What do you recommend instead? In my opinion the Razer mice are always superior for FPS.
dimgl··on Grok Build is open source
> Your product's brand name is mud.

It is?

dimgl··on Inkling: Our Open-Weights Model
What harness do you use for Kimi?
dimgl··on Grok Build is open source
I just like Grok 4.5 and Grok Build
dimgl··on Grok Build is open source
I agree about OP.

However after looking at all of these articles, these all seem like instances of users misusing the product. The product happens to reply on social media, so media publications immediately capitalized on this.

Seems less like malicious intent from xAI's part and more like a product with young and/or insufficient moderation controls.

Just today I saw an article where xAI is suing a creator for creating illegal content. https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/musks-xai-sues-grok...

dimgl··on Grok Build is open source
Grok Build seems faster to me than `omp` and Claude Code but I can't put my finger as to why. Anecdotally, after disabling code uploads the agent doesn't respond instantly anymore (it used to respond within milliseconds).
dimgl··on Grok Build is open source
Why snowflakes? You can use /feedback in the app.
