Beautiful. This is pretty much the last thing I ever expected to read on the interweb.
Also, sorry for the OT.
I'm currently working on my 3rd Android-BLE project and it's incredible how bad those APIs (and of course the vendor's implementations) are. An inconsistent pile of .. well, nothing nice. I don't get why they have no interest in fixing that..
The point is that my procrastination immediately stops if i make a commitment to someone else: if i promise a friend to deliver xy, I do. Social pressure seems to be working for me better than the will to suceed.
so, a platform where you can define your goals and have someone else check on your goals regularly, asking why it didn't work – while you do the exact same thing for the other person. while it's nice project wise, it could also provide helpful advice for whatever it is you're building.
just an idea though.
Maybe someone here can enlighten me as to why the systems, specifically TCAS and GPWS in modern civilian planes are only ever used to issue warnings/recommendations, but never take control? it would have at least prevented the überlingen mid air collision and probably some other CFIR incidents in the past years.
I thought about this for a while and couldn't come up with a really good reason.
I still think the concept is amazing, but unfortunately, they kind of failed to deliver.
The process concluded with them offering me that I may apply a year from now, again :D.
No. Not using Bluetooth LE, since there is no support for acting as a "server" device that can be discovered by other peers. It's sure to come someday, but right now it's only possible using a rooted phone.
It maybe possible that Firechat uses either Wifi Direct, which is supported on most modern Androids or classic Bluetooth, although the discovery/connection requires user interaction.
The main argument against using a menu-button is that it hides the contents behind it, which makes them hard to discover and interact with.
And while I'm not a big fan of hamburgers as well, proposing a scrollable tab bar as an alternative is.. a bit strange.
thank you, i was wrong there.
No, I'm not going to preorder a product now that ships sometime in 2015. Not even for a 50% discount.
