derision··on Hong Kong: UK makes citizenship offer to residents
There's nothing that indicates any of these were committed by right wing people. The first article is based on a study surveying 13-17 year olds and mentions some legislation, but no sexual assault that I can see.

Two drunk women, no evidence they are right wing or support any specific ideology.

And so on.

Individual acts of violence are not the same as an authoritarian regime, like the current left wing mob.

derision··on Hong Kong: UK makes citizenship offer to residents
A life sentence is excessive yes, but why are we trying to justify throwing molotiv cocktails in the first place? What happened to civility?
derision··on Hong Kong: UK makes citizenship offer to residents
What if the car exploded, hurting people nearby? What if there was a police canine in the vehicle that wasn't see, or someone crouching on the other side of the car out of sight? Throwing a molotov cocktail into a vehicle, in my opinion, should be charged as attempted manslaughter.
derision··on Hong Kong: UK makes citizenship offer to residents
Good. I don't care if it's a police car or someone's personal car or an empty cardboard box. If you're throwing around molotov cocktails you should go to jail.

Not surprisingly, China has clearly breached almost any agreement they've made with the rest of the developed world since they've starting making agreements
derision··on Guillotine Placed Outside Jeff Bezos' D.C. Home by Anti-Amazon Protesters
From the videos I've seen there were multiple instances where businesses owners attempted to defend their property and were beaten violently by mobs of people. Here's one such example https://www.newsbreak.com/texas/dallas/news/0PCbABEq/video-d...

derision··on Year old iPad runs x86_64 in emulation faster than the Surface natively
2 year old iPad chip running inside a development kit with proper cooling, compared against a Surface Pro X which is essentially a fanless tablet

If someone is trying to break into my business and loot it they should expect to get shot. Why can we not use violent force against violent force?

derision··on Ask HN: Why can't we solve the app store monopoly problem?
The app store is not a free market. If I set up a card trading store, I'm free to set any constraints I want. Maybe I want to only allow users to trade cards that were purchased at my shop. That's my right as a private enterprise. Maybe everyone will hate it and go to a different store, and that's the free market. If I somehow prevented any other card stores from existing, then we would have a monopoly
derision··on Ask HN: Why can't we solve the app store monopoly problem?
I was able to find an apk in 5 minutes by googling "Firefox apk download" and it installed just fine
derision··on Ask HN: Why can't we solve the app store monopoly problem?
That's not a monopoly nor is that how monopolies work. iPhone is their device and creation, they can lock it down as much as they choose. They could only allow apps they develop if they wanted.

derision··on Expose – A fully open-source ngrok alternative written in PHP
> because it's hard to hire people who know PHP

We got around that by hiring language-agnostic. Laravel is such a well designed framework we had no issue getting people contributing week 1, while continuing to expand their knowledge of the framework over time.

derision··on Discussion on renaming master branch gets heated, then shut down
Every non-white person I've seen commenting on this change has expressed they couldn't care less and do not give a second thought to these naming conventions. Maybe we should let their voices be heard rather than continue to try to speak for them?

derision··on Individual Investors Get Burned by Collapse of Complex Securities
The investors themselves aren't overleveraged, but the ETFs they're purchasing are. Your link specifically refers to the amount of leverage offered to individual investors

So, for example, that regulation does not prevent me from buying an overleveraged ETF, but only from overleveraged my own account (whether it be buying these ETFs or a share of coca-cola)
