dekken_··on AudioFlux: A C/C++ library for audio and music analysis
Depends, not all C is C++, eg, there is no (yet) `restrict` keyword in C++ (even if lots of C++ compilers support __restrict__, it's not in the spec)
dekken_··on AudioFlux: A C/C++ library for audio and music analysis
It's C and Python, not C++

I think we agree ;)

Thinking about advertiser bytes on my ethernet cables, makes me feel, compromised. I did not consent. It must end.

> People need to know that there is such a thing to find.

IMO, finding things, also covers not being aware it existed.

Like you're on amazon searching for something, and they suggest something you might also like, they don't know if you knew about it already. That's fine, still both parties consenting.

No, it's easy to misunderstand what makes a functional, prosperous economy.

People need to have the capacity to find things.

Today we have the internet, and search engines.

If people want something, they can look.

In this way, all parties consent, otherwise advertisements are harassment.

dekken_··on Singapore doubles down on lab-grown meat as Silicon Valley backs off
Ruminants are actually very efficient protein generating machines.

They (like us) have been evolving under thermodynamic pressures for millions of years, I would like us to be able to not have to produce them to have high quality protein/fat/etc, but I haven't seen anything to say it's remotely possible.

dekken_··on Singapore doubles down on lab-grown meat as Silicon Valley backs off
Economics itself is a product of thermodynamics.
dekken_··on Singapore doubles down on lab-grown meat as Silicon Valley backs off
> absolutely not as a question of thermodynamics.

it "absolutely" is, anything that exists, is fundamentally a question of thermodynamics, it's unavoidable.

dekken_··on Singapore doubles down on lab-grown meat as Silicon Valley backs off
all we need to do is break the second law of thermodynamics, what's the big deal?

dekken_··on Debian 13 will mount /tmp as tmpfs
it means some of your RAM will be used as if it were a disk, for the files in /tmp

I'm sure it's optional, or at least hope it is, cause it might not be good in all contexts

dekken_··on Minister defends arrest power for people feared to commit a hate crime in future
> out of random chance?

we already differentiate accidents to deliberate intent.

intent to commit crime, kinda implies hate, so the prefix of "hate" to the word crime, is, pointless

dekken_··on Minister defends arrest power for people feared to commit a hate crime in future
or you could say all crimes are hate crimes, as intent is usually considered in the aftermath, and accidents are usually less drastically sentenced.

I agree generally tho, the entire farce is a ploy to allow discrimination and vague laws to suppress l'homme du jour

dekken_··on The End of the Dark Universe?
"Assumed" tbh

cause it's an assumption our "measurements" are representative of the reality of what's actually going on that far away.

we can't verify anything from this distance, so calling it empiricism is a stretch
