degif··on Show HN: Hackerhunt – categorised curation of Show HN submissions
It's not a bug, it's a feature!
degif··on Show HN: Hackerhunt – categorised curation of Show HN submissions
The tags are added fully automatic and there is no option to add tags manually for now. That being said, we really want to make the tagging algorithm better, so hit me at human@finch.io with your case.

Yep, it was a bit buggy. Fixed. Thanks!
degif··on Show HN: Hackerhunt – categorised curation of Show HN submissions
Hey HN! I'm one of the two developers behind Hackerhunt. As much as I love Hacker News and it's ranking algorithm for the front page news, it has a downside for the Show HN submissions. A lot of cool and useful stuff people have actually made themselves gets lost in /shownew without a real chance to get to the right audience. That's where the idea of a curated and categorised, à-la-Product-hunt, list was born.

This is a very early proof of concept and any suggestions on how to make it better are welcome!

Really, really cool! What would be a nice feature, especially for longer rhythms, is highlighting the currently played syllable/phrase
degif··on Show HN: Finch.io – Fix web design bugs in real-time
Hey, HN!

Happy to show you the tool I'm working on! With Finch you can tweak any live websites design and export, sync and share the changes in real–time.

A bit of history - our team of three was working for a digital agency and we always feared those last 10% of every web project that took 90% of the time – the moment when the website was almost done, but there were lots of small design details that drove the designers crazy and developers devastated.

So to scratch our own itch we built Finch.

Happy to answer if there are any questions!

degif··on Show HN: Finch.io – Save time and hassle on fixing web design bugs
Hey HN!

When our team of three were working for a digital agency, we always feared those last 10% of every web project that took 90% of the time. I’m talking about the moment when the website was almost done, but there were lots of small design details that drove the designers crazy and developers devastated. You know the story – spacing between the elements, font sizes, line heights, responsive designs etc.

So to scratch our own itch we built Finch that allows to tweak and edit any website’s design just like in Photoshop or Sketch. You can alter the page and see the effect directly on the website in real–time, on any device. The changes you make can be exported as CSS code or pushed to the live website.

What do you think - could this tool improve your current workflow? If yes – what features would you expect from it?

degif··on Show HN: Finch Developer Tools – Save and Sync Chrome DevTools Styles
Hey HN! I'm one of two developers at Finch. Thought the Chrome extension is far from perfect, we are super excited to show you what we've built so far. If you have some feedback/questions, I'm all ears!
degif··on With Station F, Paris will have the world’s biggest startup campus
This and also if that campus is active promoting itself (meetups, hackatons, events, accelerators…), the VC's will come over themselves – they need the talent. Europe is small and geographically that's really not a problem.
degif··on Ask HN: Do you send links to yourself?
You can send Facebook messages to yourself – no need for a second account.

degif··on The average size of Web pages is now the average size of a Doom install
A simple web page nowadays is bigger than a whole game in 1993. A whole budget game nowadays is several gigabytes in size and that is far from a simple website.
degif··on Apply HN: Finch.io – Edit any live website’s design
F is now tamed, thank you!
degif··on Apply HN: Finch.io – Edit any live website’s design
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we are aware of this one, but the alternative would be to brake the interaction with the tool and disallow users to fiddle around with the design of the form :/
degif··on Apply HN: Finch.io – Edit any live website’s design
This. As an ex-freelancer myself I totally understand you are talking about and is one of the main reasons why we came up with the idea of Finch. Apart from the collaboration (which comes in really handy when you work together with a nitpicky freelance designer), you can think about Finch as a browser developer tool with an UI that can save the changes you make.

Page colors, fonts and text styles already are on our roadmap marked as "must-have" ;)

degif··on Apply HN: Finch.io – Edit any live website’s design
Thanks! The tool on the site is not even beta, it's just a visual insight of what we are building. The real tool is much more powerful (e.g. we put a lot of thought into the responsive design controls and workflow). We would love to show you that, but it's not ready for prime time yet.

degif··on Opt Out From Online Behavioral Advertising By Participating Companies
The issue is that advertising companies do not lie about why they track me - it's about them getting more revenue and that is ok with me. But I'm not so sure about the governmental espionage protection thingy.
degif··on Ask HN: How would you monetize a webcomics publishing platform?
- Merchandising comes first in mind - connect your platform with a printing API (e.g. theprintful.com), allow publishers to upload artwork for their own t-shirts, posters, mugs and commission on each purchase.

- Author tipping, receive commission.

- A Pro account for the readers - subscriptions, reminders, additional content newsletter (interviews, artist sketches, tips), access to high quality images or access to live chat events with the authors.

- A monthly subscription to a printed comic book with selected (or themed) comics and share the income with the authors. My guess is that comic fans are one of those people who really like touching physical paper. This one requires more manual work, but can be offered for a higher price.

- If you gather quality authors - a paid and easy to use mobile application. You can share the income with authors based on percentage of views.

degif··on Ask HN: Why was there a black border on HN few days back?
When someone important to the community dies, a thin black bar is added to the top of HN as a mark of respect [1].
