Cryptolepis contains quinine and used by some tribes in West Africa to treat malaria.
Stoicism helped me get out of my own head.
Even if you don't get to recover your SIM card early enough, anyone with access to your phone must know your wallet PIN code to be able to make transactions
True. Being present means you observe the heart feeling, the mind thinking and the body acting. It means you bring yourself into focus, becoming aware of your own existence, watching the motives and the results of your actions, and Studying the person you have built around yourself, inadvertence. I became less judgmental, and calmer since i began learning to 'query' and question my motives. These days I don't do it as often as I used to, but i am much less on auto-pilot.
In 2014, while Liberia battled it's new enemy, the Ebola virus, I battled mine - Debilitating Anxiety. It had brought me to my knees, and I was angry and fed up. Two months before reading that quote, I had been thinking about "lasting change", "radical self-transformation", but just didn't know how to go about it. Change! change! change! That's all i thought about.
I was following the news on the Ebola crises when i read the article and saw the quote. It got me thinking, and i immediately knew what i had to do to change myself. I knew viruses evolved, but i had never deeply thought about how it worked. Like me, this 'nasty' organism simply wanted to survive. I guessed that to change itself, it had to have low level access to the workings of it's internal structures. What if i could also do that? The more i thought i about it, the more i got convinced that it was a path worth exploring. And that's i began hacking my body through yoga and meditation.
It was a very solitary practice for me as most of the people around me ( mostly religious christian folks ) considered it wired and 'demonic'. I did a lot of googling, and read books ("The body keeps the score" included) and I am happy that i had the insight to be patient and give it time. I don't know if my healing and transformation would have happened faster if i had seen a professional, but on hindsight I think my relationships, physical well being, mental health and career are in a better place now because i gave it time.

China uses and copies a lot of western technologies yet puts a lot of restrictions on western countries that want to do business in China. To get access to their huge market certain businesses are required to share their intellectual properties with the Chinese. Is that fair? Kawasaki Heavy Industries shared their technology and now the Chinese get more contracts to build trains than they do.
Facebook is banned, Wikipedia is blocked, and Google was kicked out some years ago. Nortel networks collapsed because it is alleged that Chinese hackers stole their IP which was used by Huawei to reach its present heights. I don't consider American governments as saints but regarding China's practices I am not surprised America is acting the way it is.
Get enough sleep, exercise, read as much as you can on ADHD/ADD, listen to your body, and talk to a specialist. Focus on one thing - improving your focus and attention over time. Who you are and what you do is mostly the sum of what you focus on. Rapt attention is important to achieving your career goals. Take some time out to work on it. Finally, do try to be gentle on yourself.
You just described Emotional intelligence, which I gained by practising Yoga, meditation and stoicism. I used to be neurotic and my anxieties ruled me. I didn't get angry often but when I did it was explosive. People were often surprised cause they never thought I could be like that. Three years ago, burnt out, feeling empty and seeking purpose, I quit working and began searching. Trust me when I say that I had no idea what I was searching for. I just needed to search for 'meaning' and purpose. It led me to yoga and meditation and my life began to change. I started to gain Emotional intelligence and better control of my nerves. It was like I was born again. My anger outbursts slowly disappead. I able to observe About a year after I began yoga and meditation, I got a copy of The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and I got even better. After 3 years I went back to work.
I practice yoga and meditation with my kid. It was hard at first, but I tried to make it fun for her. Now she enjoys it. I teach her about Emotional intelligence and read the daily Stoic with her when I can. She loves Epictetus :)

>At some point these things end up in museums.
I guess you can call it a win-win.

I love it and will look into it. in 2017 The Ghanaian government rolled out a digital address system called [2]GhanaPostgps. Unfortunately it hasn't gained widespread adoption. The app was rushed, not properly tested. I think they've fixed some of the bugs, but most people just haven't warmed up to it. To force widespread usage, the government wants to make it mandatory for residents to provide a their GhanaPostgps address when applying for certain services. So i guess it will take some time but eventually most people will use it.
Digital address systems will help accelerate economic progress. Everyone knows that. But some people don't trust the government so very reluctant to give out too much detail about themselves. We are told to pay a little bit more, and to tigthen our belts a little bit more, yet parliamentarians magically unite when it's time to increase their salaries. If people believe their hard earned monies aren't being mismanaged by corrupt politicians, they would gladly contribute.
I am aware that Nigerias postal service makes use of What3words. So digital address systems will eventually become widespread in Africa -If done right.

I live in Ghana, and I don't shop on Jumia[1] because i don't believe in domestic brands. It's a ridiculous claim. This[2] is a local brand that has made 10,000+ successful sales via Jumia. The major challenge of doing E-commerce in Africa is that excluding some affluent parts, many towns and cities don't have functioning address grids. It's a complete mess and one requires the use of landmarks and long descriptions to locate places.
Jumia representatives always call to ask for directions to your location. If they get lost, you could have them give the phone to anyone nearby who is familiar with the neighborhood. You can then have the stranger direct them(Jumia delivery reps) to your location. It may be unconventional, but works.
I and millions of people who shop on Jumia do so cause it's convenient and provides a needed service. Until a few days ago, I had no idea it's a German company and its founders are french. Calling it an African company when it's not may be deceptive, but please don't say it's successful because Africans don't love local brands.
