BOZ. Meta's current CTO. Not too long ago.
I'm at loss for words at how shitty this paragraph reads. If anyone has any hope that Meta (and the rest) are even slightest concerned about the problem at hand (mental health of children), then they're very dim.
Meta literally goals on creating high-quality teen producers and consumers. Every single experiment, every single project is optimizing for that.
At least now its clear that behind the fancy marketing, its all "just business" for them and if they could, they'd sell the kids' soul to create "more shareholder value"
In my personal experience, the claude.md file heavily influences the LLM's responses. It makes judgement from any and all information you give it, and try to tailor the response to fit the stereotype it gave you. After deleting my claude.md file (ironically, on the advise of Boris), Claude Opus 5's language slop issues drastically went down.
And honestly, that's the most useless thing in Claude.md file because literally every paragraph has an "honestly" in it!
* Opus pays more attention. So anything in your Claude.md, your code's claude.md, in Claude Desktop, the customizations, even your name, will be used as context. If Claude knows you are a mechanical engineer and trying to write code, it will try to write code and explain it to you in some stereotypical way you did not expect.
* There are problems that require horizontal scaling and not vertical, even in intelligence. If I want to serve tea to 200 people at my home, I just need 10 decent adults, not Gordon Ramsey. So if your problems demand horizontal scaling, a dynamic workflow with Sonnet 5 medium with 200K context window will be more productive than Opus 5 max at 1M token context window.
within a week of closing a deal on my house i get a scam paper mail that almost looked legit asking me to pay $100 to get the title documents for my house. There aren't that many parties involved in the sale.. and its one of them (or all of them) broke the trust and bartered my information.
nearly all of them are uploading their contact list to meta and google.
THIS practice has to stop.
I'm not Apple's biggest fan either (I got super upset when they conveniently wiped out all information about the person comiting suicide in one of their conference rooms and TMZ caught the police line and the sherif said "there is a gun, next to a dead person, we can't say much at the moment" and that was it). But it is unlikely that Apple would depriortize its brand on a fake story.
2. Continuing work on Standly, a standing desk app for iOS and Mac (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/standly-standing-desk-timer/id...). I just grossed $1000 total on the app and get few customer feedbacks a week which is very exciting.
3. Almost finalized the first episode of my labor economics youtube channel, hand animated by a team of amazing artists. Looking to build it into a sustaining channel.
4. Building a server-driven UI framework at work with Go and OpenAPI on server side, swift and kotlin on client side.
There are many, many use cases of having a CSV dump of the data, but in reality, all of it boils down to either reselling the data, or marketing a product to the demographic in the data.
The 3rd use case is that of palantir but let's not get distracted.
So, meta is not selling data is like saying netflix is not selling movies (its actually buying them). Technically true, but a shallow understanding.
There is no guarantee today that any software manufacturer will not slap AI whenever, wherever they can.
I want stuff to work like linux commands. Do one thing well. Work well with other processes over a standard protocol.
If you ever find a good email client @speckx let me know. Something that does not get in my way, can work on mac/windows/iphone/android, can work offline, can do basic things like search predictably (I'm look at you apple mail) and (FFS!) does not show me random unread badges on folders where everything is already read (You again, apple mail).
Even if you ignore all that, I think you just need a break, rest, recover, find something else in life and move on. The whole thing about "life was better in the past" is just plain non-sense, simply because the past, for all we know, extends to infinity. Why 1980 and not 1890? or 1590? the inquisition? maybe the crusades? or maybe the pharohs? If you believe in biblical tales then how about being in the great flood? or being one of the pharoh soldiers that die after the sea moses split closes on them? or one of the skulls in gengis khan's tower of skulls?
You can read Steven Pinker's "Better angels of our nature" and get a good sense of how far along have we come.
This is lack of imagination. If you use these models heavily enough, pretty soon you'll hit the edges of their capabilities. The smarter among us are collecting these problems into a personal benchmark and use that to judge model capability. I think this is the right approach, and dare I say, even better than generic benchmarks. To me, it matters less what the benchmark says, and more what my particular problems are.
The laptop was never released from the customs. The Turkish reps were rude and expected bribe and pretended they don't understand english. After few months it was returned back to Germany. My cousins' laptop had a keyboard issue and local shops would not replace it and the HP agents on the ground also didn't want to help.
