I guess you never left the country, because that's one of the things they take every time you come back in the US.

Not to be a jackass, but "regular" people don't want open source. They want things that "just work."

And there's no such thing as secure, unless you build your own software, that only talks to your own servers and that only uses your personal telco and your own infrastructure.

1) Yes, probably a lot of people was here to get the free ticket (including myself)

2) Most people (including myself) still took it very seriously (proof all the people who worked 20 hours straight and slept on floors for few minutes).

I was one of the people who presented at the hackaton today (ChowDown) and I can say that there was no screening, since the only material requested was names, a brief description and special needs (adaptors, etc.).

Unless you want to work on your Macbook while watching a movie...

Well it was 2 days before... (I actually did it early but renewed by mistake another account we have)

Right in the middle or renewing the our account. I need to activate the new license and, since I can't, people can't download our app from the store. Talking about fail...

My problem with Google isn't that they behave like a business because they are. My problem is that they keep feeding us all this BS about being open and about doing it for our own good.

I think the reason many choose Amazon is also all the other services they offer, keeping everything under the same umbrella.

To be fair searching for "italian restaurants" in San Francisco the first result returned is a Yelp link on mobile, so I guess that the Zagat one wasn't a way to show necessarily a Google owned property. Everything else is the same.

Love this. As a novice developer, I think I spend 90% of my time dealing with problems I have because of the OS I'm running or other things I have installed.

A solution like this is the perfect environment for someone who is trying to learn to program.

If you have a strong team and you are in the Bay Area, don't worry for them. They'll be unemployed for less than a week.

I often suffer of bad back pains and the only thing that fixed it (or greatly improved it) was the purchase of an Embody Chair http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/seating/performance-wor...

Edit: With a bit of research you can find it used or open box (like I did) and save some money.

About and Contact links at the bottom don't work

This is better than popping bubblewrap paper. Amazing job.

I really love the demo. Great job, guys!

This is an example of how to immediately show to the potential customer how a tool can be applied on their product.

Seems a lot of people are forgetting about http://hackpad.com

This is exactly what I thought about when I saw the article :)

Knowing that other XXX,XXX people are in the same situation doesn't make things easier. Your bills are still there. Your wife is still asking you if you'll able to pay for your kids insurance.

At the Apple Store in Santa Monica there's a deaf employee and he talks to you typing on an iPad. It was actually a pretty cool experience and I particularly appreciated it since both my dad's parents were deaf (but I do not know the sign language, they were extremely good at lips reading)

> Having a slack attitude towards money (our own money or others) doesn't build a business or an understanding of value that ultimately ends in a revenue stream.

Of course you need to value other people's money, but when they gave you they money they know that there were higher chances to fails than to succeed. If you did 100% of what you could have done, you have done your job. If it was easy everyone would do it.

What about those startups that already have an account but not generating revenues since they just launched a week ago?

I think the point of organic food it isn't to get more (good) stuff, it's to get less (bad) stuff.

The fact that they have lower amounts of pesticides, chemicals and antibiotic-resistant bacteria makes organic food healthier (as in doesn't make your health worst).

Something I noticed: beside the M, the rest of the font is very similar to the font Myriad (the font used by Apple in their logo).

It will be free, but it will have targeted ads in your source code :)

I completely agree. Also, if you ask to "normal" people, they will tell you that one of the reason they love Apple's computers is that if there's any problem, they can just go to the genius bar and solve it. Joe the manager or Susie the mom doesn't care if they can't replace the HD themselves, they want to know that if something happen they don't have to ship their computer somewhere to get it fixed.

I tried both of them, and the reason I like HipChat over Campfire is that it makes easier to manage private chats as well other group chats, both public and private.

Edit: I have nothing to do with this ebook :)

I'm just tired of these video apps that every time you click on one of their links automatically share the video on your timeline. Result: I don't watch their videos anymore.

Again, you don't need to spill your secret sauce to share your idea.

I really hope to have a kid like him
