davidchua··on A rare look into North Korea's famed Propaganda School
I thought this video was excellent because of just that. The subjects' reactions and the little nuances tell so much. I find it fascinating that the NKorean censors gave so much freedom to the film crew and the students, to showcase their life.

For example, I thought it was really cute to see the male and female protaganist quite close to one another. Could they be dating? Or is it all just acting?

The varied emotions seen in this documentary is a refreshing break from all the straight-face, cautious, camera-shy interviewees from the other films by foreign crews in NKorea.

davidchua··on Programming languages and their relationship styles
I believe it could be smalltalk?
davidchua··on Does my company have IP rights to the stuff I do in my spare time?
This topic has made me relook at my employment contract and I'm a little concerned.

Does this sound like I'm exempt having to hand over my IP for non-work related coding?

"All Intellectual Property developed, created or used by you or with your assistance during your employment with the Company in the context of the business of <Company Group> or any related activities shall be and at all times remain the property of the Company."

It feels like anything that is done outside of work that is not related to the company is exempt, but I'm not sure.

davidchua··on Why can't people in US watch Al Jazeera?
It works fine on my linux box. Is there anyway to adjust the screensize to full-screen?
davidchua··on 37Signals to retire OpenID for logins on May 1
I would think that you would lose them on 'mobile phone' instead.
davidchua··on "Do you listen to music while coding?" An analysis.
I've been trying to find out music like this on shoutcast! If you know of any streams that play this type of music, do share.
davidchua··on Review my startup: Tastebuds - dating for last.fm users
Just an idea, why not integrate with 8tracks.com. I think it would be cool to see what mixes others listen to.
davidchua··on Apple engineer uses Lego to rebuild Antikythera mechanism
Beautiful! When I first read about Antikythera sometime back, it fascinated me to learn that 2000 years ago, someone has created what seems to be the first computer.

I wonder if the Ancient Astronaut theories could actually hold water.

davidchua··on Ask HN: Any web startups using Java?
I'm curious as to why you would call Java easier to deploy than Rails.

Having developed both Java EE applications and Rails applications, Rails to me was much more easier to deploy, without having to deal with installing Tomcat and going through the extensive server configurations.

davidchua··on Ask HN: Rails or Django?
I agree with danieldon, it used to be interesting and fun to read such comparisons, but after a while, I've begun to notice that comments became more and more similar almost to the point of regurgitation.
davidchua··on Ask HN: How many people here use iPad?
I'm actually thinking of getting an iPad for the purpose of e-books reading but I'm not sure if its well worth the hundred of bucks to buy an e-book reader.

Are there any Android/Open-source powered tablets that are slated to be released soon?
