dataminer··on iPhone 5c
Lots of disappointment on iphone 5c pricing, here is my theory.

I think iphone 5c was never intended to match prices of android phones, it was created to allow Apple to expand its market share in Chinese market. From what is suggested in media, one of the reason Apple had a hard time getting China Mobile on board, was the high cost of subsidizing flag ship iphones. By creating a mid tier phone Apple may have been able to convince China Mobile to carry iphone.

Tim Cook has been very bullish about Chinese market, and this move may turn out very well.

dataminer··on Amulyte (YC S13) is Building a Better Lifeline For Seniors on the Move
To get around this issue they can build an alarm which starts sounding when the battery is getting low. Another feature would be to send a notification to the care giver to charge the battery. The third fail safe would be to alert care giver if there is no communication with the device.

dataminer··on What's new in Sinatra 1.4?
That is a typical explanation but there is nothing stopping you from using Sinatra for building large apps. In fact I find myself just as productive with Sinatra as I was with Rails for building very feature full apps.

Zimbabwe and Iran are bad examples, because hyperinflation in these countries was caused by sanctions and significant drop in production capacity.

dataminer··on U.S. Oil Output to Overtake Saudi Arabia’s by 2020
I have come to the realization that oil prices do not translate directly to gas prices we pay at the pump. Even with a glut of oil, the gas prices at the pump depends on refineries which are controlled by the local companies. I think the $4 gas is the new normal. Also, the Saudi economy rely a lot on high oil prices so they wont dump more oil in the market.
