danskil··on 'I was falsely branded a paedophile'
This is really horrible, but i can't help but be reminded of the episode of "The IT Crowd" Where the lead character goes on a date with Peter File. Just goes to show how much value all societies place on titles, no matter how un-deserved.
danskil··on Do you have a blog? And if so, why?
Awesome question, i guess so i can stay "hip" and "with it" its also kindof expected for developers.
danskil··on Why Brands Should Strive for Imperfection
Just imagine if all agencies used truth in advertising...don't think they would be able to have toilet paper ads on tv anymore.
danskil··on Ask HN: Review my Startup - Preceden
I don't see any prices. How much will this cost, and what structure are you using? Freemium?
danskil··on Dear HN: I wrote an SVG charting library. What do you think?
I like it. though wish it was one written for Jquery
danskil··on Review HN: Heykiki - Find an instructor or practice buddy for an activity
It would be great if you paired with some local community colleges.

In addition to "learn" "practice" "teach" and "explore" I would personally add "Play" it could be used as a portal for people looking to find pickup games of soccer of someone to play boardgames with. the LPTE all imply that there is some net knowledge transfer, I do many activities just for fun, and would like to meet other people outside of my normal group.

Site looks great, purple...a very non-traditional yet memorable shade.

danskil··on Facebook speeds up PHP
Did they release any kind of benchmarks? I'm curious how this stacks up to passenger and Ruby enterprise edition (faster i'm sure), but would be interesting to see a side by side comparison.
danskil··on Removing Features
I see this as a fundamental concept of programming abstracted to the application level. When you code a function you strive for modularity, for your function to be re-usable as a building block. But if you're not careful you can make your function take too many inputs and do too many calculations. The same truths apply in code as in life. Keep things small, manageable, and re-usable, and Good things will come to you.

Dear Google,

I love you.

danskil··on I Love Walled Gardens
I was rather upset to find no awesome pictures of walled gardens included in this post.
danskil··on An Open Letter to Rackspace Cloud Hosting
I agree. The cloud server's gives you full access to everything save the hardware.

IMHO, i would prefer a native ruby on rails blogging cms but currently there is nothing nearly as polished as wordpress. Typo seems to be the most developed right now, but it still has a long way to go.

danskil··on Don't hash passwords? I say yes. Hash them And correctly
So, if you have a hash, and your salt gets compromised, is there a way to re-salt without losing all old passwords? I'm thinking specifically of frameworks like rails where you can have hashes applied auto-magically.
danskil··on [dead]
what rank do you need to have to down vote something?
danskil··on The secret to networking - be yourself online/in person
"Just be yourself" This is pretty similar to what i remember reading as a teenager when looking for advice on the opposite sex. Though no one ever really told me, how to be me.

There are lots of me's, the one that stays up late watching south park, and the one that enjoys a fine glass of wine. Many of my friends took this phrase as a ticket to be slovenly, thinking that they would attract others by "being themselves". While the advice is sound, it shouldn't be taken as an absolute law.
