creaturemachine··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
Have you read Sarah Wynn-Williams' book? The whole org is rotten.
creaturemachine··on OpenAI's new device will be hockey puck-sized and cost over $300
But you'll still need to pull out your phone to figure out what it's trying to tell you when it morphs into a pair of lips.
creaturemachine··on Run Android ARM64 VR APKs on Apple Vision Pro
I didn't say all platforms.
creaturemachine··on Run Android ARM64 VR APKs on Apple Vision Pro
Yet apple has been trying to tell us all along that it's not just a consumption device, that you can achieve real work with one.

And of course, android studio is available on three platforms. Apple could choose to do the same.

creaturemachine··on Taxi drivers rarely die of Alzheimer's
It's very comforting when your cabbie knows exactly where you want to go with one prompt, versus being with some uber droid who can't look past their phone.
creaturemachine··on US beef prices have soared but farmers aren't making more money
> but wooden posts and barbed wire

Less clear? Check your tariffs.

creaturemachine··on Gemini Robotics 2 brings whole body intelligence to robots
The world can't support the number of bodies on it already, and you're proposing adding mindless meatbags that still need feeding and their waste managed? Are you going to accept an amazon package that's had giraffe poop sprayed on it while picking, or change your meat-robot's diaper? I didn't think so.
creaturemachine··on First Robotic Satellite Servicer Launched
The average person not interested in space won't know the difference between leo and geo in the first place.
creaturemachine··on Writing by hand is good for your brain
Unless it's from the library. I've had to keep an eraser handy to undo some rando's bizarre markups.
creaturemachine··on Understanding the AI Economy
> real, normal big global company.

Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net?

creaturemachine··on Understanding the AI Economy
This person seems to be intentionally making themselves dumb by choosing not to think.
creaturemachine··on European "age verification" "app" forcing everyone to use Android or iOS
Predators have been using roblox since its inception, but I don't think they are doing age verification because of that. They're looking to expand into more adult experiences and, of all horrible ideas, dating.
creaturemachine··on Just Let Me Write Digits
If you're living the passphrase life then spaces make them easier to type.
creaturemachine··on Just Let Me Write Digits
Not having the space looks and feels wrong, and I think the post office would agree. I have a feeling the trend toward space omission was due to fields formatted for US zips.
creaturemachine··on Your 'app' could have been a webpage (so I fixed it for you)
Maybe it should've been an app after all.
creaturemachine··on How we can reduce traffic congestion
So you bought a car for a good price full of features, good for you. Now where are you going to drive the thing? Can you build your own road wherever you want to go? No, only the state can build roads? How could we allow such a monopoly over our lives.

Now you say there are rules to follow on these roads, with enforcement, meaning someone has power over you the entire time? Yikes.

creaturemachine··on How we can reduce traffic congestion
Driving has been subsidized and "made better" for so long that it feels natural. Forcing your private steel box through public spaces should be the most impractical and expensive thing to do, yet it's not.
creaturemachine··on Leak of San Francisco Police Drone Footage Exposes Reality of Urban Surveillance
The only thing insecure was the market position of the domestic competition.
creaturemachine··on QuadRF can spot drones and see WiFi through my wall
If you count recon and droppers that can use distance to avoid jamming, sure. One-way applications are increasingly fibre.
creaturemachine··on QuadRF can spot drones and see WiFi through my wall
Most light vehicles are jamming, and infantry at least have detection capability, which is why fibre is now the standard for close range.
creaturemachine··on Decoding the obfuscated bash script on a Uniqlo t-shirt
What Bash blog would be complete without some Windows trash-talk?
creaturemachine··on The CEO of Mullvad is the main financer of the Swedish Örebro party
National Socialism in a nutshell.
creaturemachine··on Oxide computer 3D rack guided tour
I thought surely this isn't just blade servers, that those compute shelves were full of GPUs or something novel, but no just blades reincarnated. I used to support HP's baby version of this, the c3000.
creaturemachine··on The deadly rise of giant trucks and SUVs
You should leave the continent and gain some context. Every summer the whole of Europe is full of campers towed by humble family sedans and wagons. Not just cheesy tent pop-ups, full-on campers with a family's worth of bikes hanging off the back. But the ads on TV said you'd be a lesser man without a truck, so I guess we can't blame you.
creaturemachine··on How Japan's railways stayed one while splitting apart
Its leadership sure doesn't see things that way.
creaturemachine··on Fully autonomous drones have killed human soldiers for the first time
If my time playing Pokémon Go is any help, I can just bounce around and dodge the balls the drone lobs at me as it tries to swipe its screen just right, until it inevitably runs out of balls. If a ball sucks me in, I can just wiggle around once or twice and break free, causing the drone to waste more resources on subsequent attempts.

I think we'll be ok.

creaturemachine··on Car headlights don't have to be this blinding
True, but once you can see the whites in their eyes it would be nice if the beams lowered.
creaturemachine··on Car headlights don't have to be this blinding
That was me, sorry. My car has automatic high-beams that only turn down for other vehicles.
creaturemachine··on Mercedes‑Benz starts large‑scale production of electric axial flux motor
They used to, but not by design. Back when throttles were still cabled I could feel the cruise control doing its thing by lightly resting on the pedal.
creaturemachine··on Meta enables ADB on deprecated Portal devices [video]
It's insane that you can still buy the things.
