"What would you use a Postman Chrome Extension... for"

If I'm not mistaken, it started as a browser extension.

cpv··on Astronauts escape malfunctioning Soyuz rocket
Those might be the boosters separating. And probably a small explosion, or just the gases from the separation.

Edit: the boosters separated, and due to failure it might activated the escape capsule.

cpv··on Ask HN: What Engine Is Better for games: Unity, Unreal or Unigine?
Not related to the engine, but this one has also some awesome soundtracks.

Album on bandcamp, but feels much better in the game: https://garethcoker.bandcamp.com/album/ori-and-the-blind-for...

cpv··on Why Stanislaw Lem’s futurism deserves attention (2015)
Lem has amazing books. I have some of them in "To Read", along with Verne and others. Sadly, not all of them are translated in other languages, or are hard to find. "Solaris" and "The adventures of Ijon Tichy" are the most translated, I think.

cpv··on SteamOS, Linux, and Steam Machines
I had the chance to run KSP on an older laptop, something more to low end. On windows it was playable on low settings, with small hiccups. On Linux it was running smoothly with similar settings, same game save. It could have been code optimizations, game engine, the OS, the drivers, but there was a difference.
cpv··on Facebook denies it collects call and SMS data from phones without permission
This is an issue for other messaging clients as well, having the "Sync contacts" enabled by default. So by the time you get in the settings to disable, your contacts might on a server already.
cpv··on Kerbal Space Program Extension Now Available
MechJeb is a mod. Imagine how many play it on original build, or on consoles.

The same could be said about the Kerbal Engineer, which shows useful stats (dV, altitude, periapsis, apoapsis, etc).

cpv··on Ford disguised a man as a car seat to research self-driving
I can't recall properly where I read it, but some time ago there was an idea to have stop signals also in front of the car, so the pedestrians would know if the driver/car is stopping.

There are also pedestrians who can take into account if the car is turning (obviously by watching the turning lights).

A self-driving car should have some reactions to people around it, so people could also respond properly to its actions, or know its intentions. There was a comment about an empty electric car near the intersection, staying still, and people around it can't tell if the car is parked, waiting, etc.

cpv··on Kerbal Space Oddities
I understand what you are saying, but the latest version is a "big leap for kerbalkind". You should give it a try again. When I have time, I play it on a mid-range laptop.
cpv··on Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Beta
With friends I play the steam version (we all have it on steam) via game ranger. Strange, steam and game ranger. But it works. I just can't play a random game via ESO.
cpv··on Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Beta
The ESO servers are still online (at least till a couple of months ago). I had issues with AoE 3. In case you forget your password, you can't recover it because they don't send recover emails, sending emails to some support emails from their support page/faq doesn't work (getting "Message could not be delivered"). And each account is connected to one cdkey. A last option is to play with friends/other people on game ranger, or buy a new game, and create a new ESO acount.
