coopykins··on Rules for Negotiating a Job Offer (2016)
I found this article at a time where I had the opportunity to accept two job offers, so I had nothing to lose by pushing for more salary. The negotiation went well and got a substantial increase in the final offer on company A. On the other hand, company B dropped their offer. So watch out, if company B had been my only option I would have lost my opportunity.

I was clear from the beginning that I had another offer at hand, to use as leverage.

coopykins··on Ask HN: Have you ever been hired because of open-source contributions?
Not hired, as I didn't pursue it further, but I've been offered a job from contributing to a relatively popular but dying open source project some years ago.

Projects I've Built & Shipped:

• https://getweeklio.com - AI-powered meal planning mobile app that I conceptualised, built, and launched from scratch.

• https://resumeflows.com - SaaS platform helping job seekers create tailored resumes for specific job postings. I just launched this one.

Full-stack developer with 9+ years of experience who thrives in fast-paced environments where I can make meaningful impact. After working at large orgs like Oracle and successfully launching my own products, I prefer working in smaller product focused projects. So I'm looking to join a startup leveraging AI/ML technologies.

I excel at:

Building and shipping products end-to-end Frontend development with modern frameworks (React ecosystem specialist) Integrating AI capabilities into practical applications Working autonomously while delivering measurable results Particularly interested in early-stage startups where I can wear multiple hats and help shape product direction. Available for both full-time roles and contract work.

coopykins··on Ask HN: Which Search Engine do you use?
Kagi
coopykins··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2025)
Working on https://resumeflows.com

A tool that builds job-specific tailored resumes. It's not a novel idea, but the ones I've seen use a subscription based model, and as a user I feel more inclined to purchase some tokens for usage based approach. Also my wife has been looking for a job for a time and I thought it would be handy for her.

Pretty close to getting ready for launch.

coopykins··on Clean Code vs. A Philosophy Of Software Design
As someone who's recently started to read a philosophy of software design, I have to say that a lot of the points the author makes are things that I've come to learn with experience, which feels pretty good. As opposed to clean code, which I read when I was starting, and although at that time it felt good to have some guidelines—I still think having some guidelines is better than having nothing at all.

I think you grow out of that advice very soon, because it's not very practical, it feels out of touch. The result is not code that is easier to read, quite the contrary. I think the Java world has been influenced for worse by him.

But I don't have anything against him, as other comments say, the problem is dogmatism and trying to follow these authors blindly instead of thinking about it.

About me:

Im a full stack developer with over 9 years in the industry — I'm passionate about building and shipping things.

Im results driven, curious and independent. I've worked in large companies like Oracle, but I don't thrive in large, buroratic heavy companies. After worked on some personal proyects and fully releasing one of them, I want to focus on startups where there's a faster peace and bigger impact. I'm more interested in products that use AI, as I've been working with them lately.

Personally enjoy more working in the UI/UX side of things, but I'm polyvalent and can work in any part of the stack. Feel free to reach out and have a chat!

Also available to work as a contractor.

coopykins··on Show HN: TailwindResume – Modern Resume Builder for Tech Professionals
Very nice! I was just building something similar, less tech oriented. Congrats on the launch!
coopykins··on In the belly of the MrBeast
Really liked this sentence:

"YouTubers are not “Creators” but Creations. Audiences, rationalized by the platform, and the vloggers who upload the videos those audiences consume are not separable either theoretically or empirically."

coopykins··on Evolving my ergonomic setup (or, my laptop with extra steps)
I use a similar setup with my desktop: Split keyboard with trackball in the middle. Been using it for 3 years now and I love it.
coopykins··on Product Psychology
This information you can find easily available online for free. Most of it is well researched in psychology papers.

I find the tile of the page dubious, this is no way to delight anyone, but to use their psychology against them. More like manipulateyourusers.com

coopykins··on Ask HN: What have you built with LLMs?
I use LLMs to generate meal plans for my app https://getweeklio.com. You can also generate recipes for any of the meals. Another functionality I want to add is being able to get a list of ingredients to make a shopping list. Right now al of it is using chatgpt4o. I put a cache in place initially but with the cost/speed of the new models it's becoming kind of unnecesary.
coopykins··on Show HN: I built a React Native boilerplate to ship mobile apps faster
Looks nice, congrats on the launch.

After building an app from scratch, I see the value in a nice starter template.

coopykins··on Simple sabotage for software (2023)
That list of sabotaged software development reminds me of my time at Oracle
coopykins··on Squatting in Spain: Understanding Spain's "okupas" problem
The housing construction in Spain dropped flat in 2018. From building 9000 units/month to 700 units. Yet the population increased in 1,000,000 people in the last 10 years. It is not sustainable.

coopykins··on Show HN: I built a random meal plan generator to help my wife
Very nice, Im working on something similar: https://getweeklio.com

I like the overview of the plan with the ingredients each meal will take.

Good job!

coopykins··on Show HN: Cross-platform Chat App for OpenAI, Ollama et al.
Looks pretty good! I've been looking for something that I can use both my local Ollama and my gpt api key in the same place and it looks like this could be it. A problem Im noticing on safari, trying to fetch the local Ollama api endpoint results in this error: [Error] Fetch API cannot load http://localhost:11434/api/tags due to access control checks.

Works well on chrome though.

coopykins··on Show HN: Just hit $450 in revenue with my fitness AI wrapper
Nice Job! I made something somewhat similar, more focused on the meal plans, shopping list. But it's focused on mobile apps and multi-user. Though I haven't worked on marketing it at all so I have made no revenue so far. Nice to see some success on this area! Also WTH I just saw Ive had a surge of 300 users from Poland in the last two days.

In case you're curious https://getweeklio.com

coopykins··on Show HN: Just Do It - Guess someone needs to hear this
Ha! I used to hav a chrome extension that popped up Shia screaming Just do it! But it was hijacked and put with malware or something like that.

This brings me memories...

BTW it doesn't seem to work on Safari.

coopykins··on Z – Jump around
This looks great, I love finding simple productivity boosts like this. Not simple in implementation but simple in how easily it becomes part of your workflow.
coopykins··on Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use?
I built https://getweeklio.com/ mostly for myself, it's an app to organise weekly meal plans/shopping list that you can use with multiple users. I use it with my wife, since we had a child and it has been useful, thought it was mostly an excuse to learn react native at the time.

I started to add some more features like asking chat gpt meal plans and other things I have on my mind but I haven't gotten around implementing yet.

Then I thought: I might as well make it a full fledged product and see how it goes, which was an interesting exercise in itself, although I haven't promoted it, and the monetisation strategy definitely needs some work. Not many are willing to pay monthly for such a limited set of features. Maybe a small one time payment will do better.

Currently is on an hiatus as I changed jobs recently but I'd like to work on it some more.

I've been meaning to ask for some directions about marketing it to get some feedback. There's a handful of users that have tried it, but none even bother with the first month free trial to check the full version features. Perhaps these should be fully available for a time and then put them after the paywall again.

But building a product has helped me a lot on interviews so that's another nice outcome at least.

coopykins··on Kagi raises $670k
I'm a happy customer, so good for them.

One thing I started to use a lot since they removed the usage limit is their summarizer.

I made a little bookmarklet to quickly see a summary of the current page I'm browsing:
