coolestguy··on Seattle could become the first city to ban caste discrimination
Ah - my bad.
coolestguy··on Seattle could become the first city to ban caste discrimination
Incorrect.

Your sentence is what a typical fence sitter would say, where they think you can go through life not offending bad people and thinking that makes you tolerant.

coolestguy··on Seattle could become the first city to ban caste discrimination
>moral superiority

I don't feel bad about objective moral superiority. Just beacuse the caste system is ingraind in Indian culture doesn't mean it should be respected or allowed.

coolestguy··on Seattle could become the first city to ban caste discrimination
>India is not dealing with this issue, America is.

Lmao - clearly never been to india. Where do you think this comes from?

Ethereum's chain is profitable. The networks fees outweights the supply given to validators to secure the chain.
coolestguy··on Tether ownership and company weaknesses revealed in documents
There's no correlation between being bad at business and doing bad things morally

Why is "money flowing towards an asset = price goes up" surprising to you?

The only part of this equations that's new is that blockchains are public and therefore you can see it happen.

Would it be wild to you to see "money moves from private bank account to goldman sachs account = shares go up"?

coolestguy··on Intel Cuts Employee Pay to Maintain Quarterly Dividend
>So the OP would rather have Intel fire thousands of employees?

Ah yes - the only option

coolestguy··on Best and worst decisions I’ve made
Banks set the fixed rate & they more than anyone else knows what will most likely happen to rates in the future because the banks are the ones in closed door meetings with reserve banks/government.

Do you think they'd set a fixed rate where they lose?

coolestguy··on Ask HN: Is long-term employee commitment to the same company still appreciated?
The only thing that modern day companies value is decreased expenses so if someone has been with the same company for 5+ years it's very likely they are underpaid.
coolestguy··on High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF/.heic)
No, I don't think a wikipedia link with absolutely not context is interesting. In fact, I think it's low effort and shouldn't be automodded away.
coolestguy··on High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF/.heic)
ah brilliant
coolestguy··on High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF/.heic)
?
coolestguy··on Ethereum Goerli testnet merge goes live before move to proof-of-stake
The staking reward is for collateralized validators only (a small % of the network)

Overall issuance can potentially be negative due to the burn effects of eip1559 - where the base transaction fee of an eth transaction is deleted from the network forever (akin to using oil/gas/petrol & then it's gone)

If 2>1 then net issuance is negative

coolestguy··on Ask HN: How do you manage backups?
I use Afi.ai & keep all my important files on a one-drive backup folder/sharepoint.

For both work (business owner) and personal.

coolestguy··on Ask HN: What would you advise to a beginner investing into crypto
Research the blockchain trilemma, and pay close attention to centralized choice of validators in a number of "Proof of Stake" coins and then realise why only btc or eth are anything more than a central database
coolestguy··on An Introduction to Polkadot [pdf]
the questions you need to ask yourself when dealing with any chain related questions is "what part of the blockchain trilemma does this chain sacrifice"

That question is why ethereum and bitcoin are the dominant chains, and nothing else ever takes off

coolestguy··on NFL bans teams from crypto advertisements and NFT sales
>Cryptocurrency endorsements will be ushering in a new world of financial hell for this world's disenfranchised communities.

Wait until you hear how banks treat people! At least with crypto it is your choice, whereas banks are the unavoidable gatekeepers to money.
