It's an application, it hasn't been granted.

Both are locations and not types of citizenship. 'British' is a descriptor for citizenship 'Great Britain' and 'United Kingdom' are not.

To be picky, there are technically 6 different types of British citizenship:

coob··on Why Hasn’t the World Been Destroyed in a Nuclear War Yet?
For a fission bomb yes, not s fusion (thermonuclear/hydrogen) bomb.

Fire bombing can (and has done) more damage to a city than a fission bomb.

4G has much better latency than HSPA+ for me. Video streaming is much smoother and breaks up less. FaceTime is much better than on HSPA+. If I see 4G in my status bar, I know my connection is going to be at least as good as coffee shop WiFi.

It contends better too, which affects everyone.

I have unlimited LTE for £15/mo (Three UK) so I don't need to worry about paying for the data.

Suited in terms of desired quality, not necessarily file size. Sometimes you need pixel perfect frames, not 4:2:2 b-frame messiness.
coob··on Why Does the International Space Station Have That Shape?
100kg flywheels help hold attitude.

The Zvevzda module[1] has engines, used rarely. When Progress supply ships are docked, their engines are used for adjustment.

coob··on APNG support lands in WebKit
For photorealistic video yes, but APNG is much more suited than anything else for animated graphics where SVG isn't a good fit.
coob··on John Carmack: “I just dumped the C++ server I wrote for a new one in Racket”
You don't have to use ARC. You can reference count manually if you like. What you can't do is use the old garbage collection (which was only ever available on OS X).
coob··on Show HN: New IDE and GUI for R language
Have passed this along to a couple of PhD student friends who'll I'm sure will find it useful.

coob··on Jonathan Ive and the Future of Apple
The whole iOS 7 obviousness argument is ridiculous.

Of course iOS 6 was more obvious to Verge writers, they'd been using it for 3/4 years.

coob··on Expedia Buys Orbitz for $1.6B in Cash
If the no lower prices thing is true, how come comparison engines like triage have such wildly varying prices? Are different bookers taking hits on their margins to drive business?
