Just did, the latest featured thread is laughing about a Republicans silly statements. Seems to have no issues criticising both the left and the right..
It's pretty much the forum equivalent of LibsOfTiktok, people post clips / screenshots of people acting silly and people laugh at them. The site is constantly being DDoSed by the people/groups laughed at and Keffals (the latest big personality being silly) is now leading a crusade against Cloudflare to drop their DDoS protection so the attacks can be more effective.
Worth noting is that the admins of that forum removes anything illegal and they make fun of everyone acting silly regardless of politics / ideology.
> Musk has no legal standing to use any of that to back out of the merger.
The claim is that Twitters SEC filings had bots at ~5%, and Musk made the investment based on that. From the leaked recordings of staff, everyone knew that the percentage was much higher.
Interesting how it seems like there's little correlation between source sample-size and quality. e.g. the Portal Sentry turret at 1.5min input vs the 100+ minutes of the narrator from Stanly Parable which sounded like auto-tune had a stroke.
I see a lot of hype around the AI cores. What do regular users use it for? Only thing I can think of is accelerating writing recognition / face-auth stuff.
Ye, companies are terrible with accounts. Found out I had made an Apple account in 2010 by getting an email that the security questions had been changed to Chinese. Reset the password to go delete the account but was not allowed to sign in without responding to the (Chinese) security questions. Tried contacting support and asked them to delete the account, from the email registered with them, noting that no one has used the account in 10 years and it was created in Sweden so it was obviously hacked. They said they are not allowed to do that, and the only option is to login with the security questions or book a time for a phonecall where I can prove my identity so they can reset the security questions..
I mean, it's literally the 70's game "Mastermind" but with letters instead of colours, so any patents are out the window and copyright is dubious at best..
Not to mention hidden variables. i.e. him joining (on their terms) would be best for Twitter in the future (as his influence would be limited), him not joining (on his terms) would be best right now (as his influence is limited).
I'd say no. But given the trend of people calling 20 hours a week "slavery", demanding debt forgiveness; and such. It seems like it's becoming a minority opinion to let consenting adults make their own informed decisions (and deal with the consequences of them)..
I mean, there's a difference between platforms trying solve the issue and Twitter that gives a badge repeat offenders as long as the target of their bigotry is deemed acceptable..
From looking at the trailer, some of the scenes kind of seem 'worse' from an art perspective. Not sure how to put it, kind of like when a cartoon includes some live-action art / 3D model or just cheap CGI in general, just feels 'off'. Still, great job by the devs.
A conjecture is not a proof, hence not something taken seriously. I'm sure he conjectured that there's no black swans (or similar) at some point, but that's not worth remembering.
I mean, the top careers for psychopaths are: CEO, Politician, and Journalist. Remember the last time someone of them said "I'm not in this position because I want to have power, it's my duty to X that drives me"?
Ye, I always disable non-security related updates on pretty much all my hardware, then do a update once a year for new features on some stuff.
Recently got access to Windows 10 LTSC from a company I worked with and installed it on my workstation, super fast compared to the modern version I was using (LTSC build is 3 years old IIRC) and didn't find any downside compared to 10 Pro, so can recommend that for any dev that feels like their machine is too slow.
For a legit company that would be enough to at the very least call the tech department and investigate if the servers have been hacked. Given that their immediate response was to erase all info about the auction ever existing; they knew what was going on..
Like most scummy companies, they bet that you don't have the funds / care enough to sue them.
For example EBay sent an email to me (IP/DMARK/DKIM verified) that they had received the payment and were holding it for 'security reasons' and my account would be penalised if not shipped on time. A week later they sent an email saying that they have suspended the buyer for fraud and that I should contact the shipping company to have the item returned (was already delivered at that time). When contacting them (after 50 bot replies) they just denied sending anything (and that their signatures were spoofed), removed any info of the auction from my account, said their TOS exempts them from any damages, and told me not to contact them again.
Not going through a drawn out lawsuit over $150 where my only proof is crypto signatures as all info on my account was wiped..
If the US IRS is like Sweden's, they don't really care about criminal activity as long as they get their cut. I usually use our equivalent of that field for income I don't remember / can't be arsed to check where it came from..
I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Twitter added the rule banning pictures/reports on non-public persons on the first day of the trial.. which also coincidentally was the day Twitters and other companies CEO/CFO's all suddenly resigned; thus making them non-public persons..
Can recommend Nvidias nView software for partitioning the screen into work-areas. Then maximizing, by default dragging the window to a border of a work-area, but is programmable so you can select a default area, just fills the area. Only downside is that you need to patch a JNZ in their DLL where they check if you have a Quadro card and quit.
I think the clearest example would be the Gamergate page. Whole page being rewritten twice a day, conservative outlets being blacklisted as sources for not supporting the narrative while random blogs were fine, long time editors being banned from editing because they wanted it to be 'neutral', and a lot of users being banned for pointing out that a lot of the claims were not supported by the questionable sources.
For a more recent example that was posted on HN a few days ago: the proposed deletion of a page on mass-killings under Communism. Most of the arguments on the discussion page were from power-editors complaining that the page was "making Communism look bad" and that it was used for "anti-revolutionary talking-points". While the deletion is still being voted on, gives you an insight into the culture.
Not really, just like TV's there's certainly a 'premium' range for those that are interested but there's a wide range or regular 'work' monitors. e.g. a few years ago I got a 43" 4K monitor with 10-bit colour-depth, 60Hz refresh, good local dimming etc. for $800.
In OP's link for IPS, a monitor of the same size and brand that seems to be the next version after the one I got is $550. It's hardly a premium over a comparable TV.
Not to defend the company, but degraded performance of the AC (which they cover under warranty) is probably not what most think of when they hear "reliability"..
Worth keeping in mind is the similarity of frames. Or, the lack of difference. If you know that the light-source isn't changing then you can get way with just copying the last frame and super-imposing < 300 pixels to reflect what's changed. i.e. there's no need to render the same wall for every frame.
Well, ye. There's always elite classes with special rules. Social media is pushed to censor 'misinformation' while news media can lie all day. Entertainment media need to clearly label product placements, news media can make 'sponsored content' nearly indistinguishable from the other content. If you have a blog with 'questionable' content you can be fined, news media can have 'opinion' columns advocating for genocide and there's no issue. If you get arrested at a riot, you can just say you're a journalist and you'll likely be let go as they don't want to bother with the potential outrage..
