coldsauce··on Show HN: A site that makes Spotify playlists of bands coming to town
I think this is a really interesting idea. Spotify has a feature where you can see if an artist is going to be playing near your location by going to the artist's page and going to the 'concert' tab. However, I don't think they have one to go the other way i.e "find all artists performing in one location"

Someone at the SXSW Hackathon two weeks ago worked on a similar thing [1]. The difference in their project was that it looked at the artists you listened to and then created a list of artists that you would know who would be coming to the venue.

I like your idea in that you're creating a channel for people to discover new bands.

coldsauce··on Avoid Else, Return Early (2013)
I guess this makes sense when programming in an imperative paradigm. Scala, for example, has a completely opposite convention. Most of the scenarios he describes are usually things that would never occur in a functional paradigm.
coldsauce··on How Bangladesh vanquished diarrhoea
It's also another way to say bathroom in Serbian! I had no idea other languages used it, too.
coldsauce··on Uber self-driving trucks are now moving cargo for Uber Freight customers
Truck drivers don't do office work, really. All of the documents like bill of lading, etc are taken care of by the office workers of the company the driver works with.

They have to do paperwork like logging hours, doing a pre-trip inspection, etc. This is done during off-time while the driver isn't driving (for obvious reasons). Usually on the driver's seat with a clipboard on the steering wheel :D

coldsauce··on Representing the Impractical and Impossible with JDK 10 “var”
do you mean the word itself? or some implementation detail is more elegant?
coldsauce··on Takeaways from Nassim Taleb's New Book “Skin in the Game”
I think this is a really interesting point. I used to be all over self-help books because I wanted to improve myself, but it seems to me as though so many authors just regurgitate the same points over and over again with tired anecdotes mixed in.
coldsauce··on The Makefile I use with JavaScript projects
Could you explain how you did it?
coldsauce··on Simplified and community-driven man pages
Man pages feel like RFCs for tools. They have a lot of information about how to use them but they're sometimes pretty difficult to parse. I'm really excited about this project. Whenever I don't know how to use a tool I look at a StackOverflow answer for an example. I've been doing this for as long as I can remember. I'm glad there is a dedicated service for this now.
coldsauce··on Tesla Semi
The majority of trucking companies aren't big enough to be able to have in house shops.
coldsauce··on YC Summer 2017 Stats
What's the trivial answer? All these startups are in vastly different spaces and industries. Not sure which industry you're talking about.
coldsauce··on YC Summer 2017 Stats
Which industry?
coldsauce··on The Invisible War for the Open Internet
Where is the irony? Just like any other platform, Medium will have bad content and good content.
coldsauce··on Scala Native v0.1
If i recall correctly, they are planning to (or have already) remove macros in a newer version of Scala.
