coffeeblack··on Binance Says Deposits of USDC (Sol)+USDT (Sol) Have Been Temporarily Suspended
So your take is that every government is always right, did I understand you correctly?
coffeeblack··on Is this the end of crypto?
Another year, another “the end of crypto” craze.
coffeeblack··on The sinister attempts to ‘decolonise’ mathematics
That’s not correct. But assuming it is, how far are you willing to go? Skin color? Family education? Neighborhood a person grew up in? Gene defects? There are billions of reasons why two people are not completely equal.

In the end, you need 999 bureaucrats to make sure one person get equity.

One reason why communist countries are poor. Nobody produces things because everybody in working in the administration of equity.

And in the end, everybody is poor.

coffeeblack··on The sinister attempts to ‘decolonise’ mathematics
Yep, correct.

Would be interesting to hear if other countries have similar word games?

coffeeblack··on The sinister attempts to ‘decolonise’ mathematics
Careful, “equity” is not equality. “Equity” requires racism and exclusion.
coffeeblack··on Meta fires a software engineer two days after he relocated from India to Canada
Sounds like a good deal. And plenty of time to find a new position if he wants to stay in Canada.
coffeeblack··on Mass of transactions leaving crypto.com wallets
Another year, another “the end of crypto” prediction. Oh well.
coffeeblack··on Mass of transactions leaving crypto.com wallets
I think it depends a lot where an exchange is located, if the place has rule of law and proper supervision for financial service providers. Also, if an exchange has properly regulated external audits.
coffeeblack··on [dead]
So the endless wars will continue. Oh well, if that’s what the people want. At least we had 4 years with no new wars.
coffeeblack··on Iranian man who lived in Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport for 18 years dies
GP already told you why not.
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
Is creating a false “Musk” account to spam people with some shitcoin “parody”? Is creating a fake Musk account to post hatefull shit under his name “parody”?

What is up with the New Left and this total absence of reason and ethics?

Actual parody is completely okay and NOT banned (unlike it was on Old Twitter).

coffeeblack··on YouTube confirms that it has removed the “sort by oldest/newest” option
Plus, they know what videos generate more ad revenue. The user making up their own mind just interferes with that ad impression optimisation.
coffeeblack··on YouTube confirms that it has removed the “sort by oldest/newest” option
You are not the customer.

YouTube tells YOU what video to watch when.

coffeeblack··on My professor says I would not graduate my PhD, but I fulfilled all requirements
That sounds more like the current state of scientific research.
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
How so? Because they buy software?
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
You think those rockets fly remote controlled?
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
That would be really cool, but probably still a while before that actually works on a large scale. Let alone before the Tesla robot actually works. I am less optimistic about the time it takes to develop it.
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
How is identity theft or impersonation “comedy“? Are all the crypto spammers “comedy” for you? Why not stay real and stop all the hate?
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
No, Tesla and SpaceX. Plus Neuralink, but Musk isn’t involved in the operations there.
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
He’s running two of the world’s most successful software companies right now.
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
No. And Musk already said so. What’s the intention of the FUD?
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
You stay home then. I’d go (if I worked at Tw).
coffeeblack··on Musk’s first email to Twitter staff ends remote work
Remote work is about the only thing where I very much disagree with Musk. I get it for engineering physical things. But not for web software. In that area, remote works much better than in-office, at least for me.
coffeeblack··on Meta lays off 11,000 people
That sounds pretty good. Even better than good.
coffeeblack··on Towns are testing new ballot counting machines that use open source software
Apparently, the same is happening right now in Maricopa County. Ballots being collected and shipped to “counting facilities”.

coffeeblack··on Purchasing Power Parity: Fair pricing for SaaS products
So why does a millionaire in Turkey get it for $4 while a homeless American single mother has to pay $20? How is that “fair”? It’s just racism.
coffeeblack··on Purchasing Power Parity: Fair pricing for SaaS products
Pricing isn’t about “fair”, pricing is about an offer’s utility to the buyer in relation to the financial abilities of the buyer. Anything else will sooner or later fail, and sometimes cause extreme damage while falling.
coffeeblack··on Towns are testing new ballot counting machines that use open source software
Another aspect I don’t get is, why are voted in the U.S. shipped to central counting facilities, instead of counting decentralized in each voting station?

Not sure if it’s common in the U.S. I just remember the videos from that Detroit counting centre (the one where they tapped over the windows, so observers couldn’t look inside).

coffeeblack··on Towns are testing new ballot counting machines that use open source software
Serious question: why not count them manually?
coffeeblack··on India lifted 415M out of poverty in 15 years, says UN
Foreign investment, technology transfer, and trade did. Which is why safe international trade routes and open markets are so important.
