You mean Picture in Picture or split app screen?
cody8295··on OnlyFans to block sexually explicit videos starting in October
Or just use a private crypto like Monero
cody8295··on OnlyFans to block sexually explicit videos starting in October
With most crypto, yeah. Monero happens to be private and anonymous.

If this passes, will Apple have to allow third-party apps like Android does?

Or you could use a decentralized and fully private crypto like Monero?
cody8295··on Ethereum just activated its ‘London’ hard fork
There are coins like Monero that are ASIC-resistant and can only be mined with CPU, not GPU.

Sounds like the media really wants people to forget about Gamestop. Shorts must cover eventually. Buy and hold.
cody8295··on I refused to become an FBI informant, the government put me on the no fly list
Actually most states don't have "Stop & ID" laws, but some do. In states without "Stop & ID" laws, you only have to ID yourself when suspected of committing a crime, or suspected that you're about to commit a crime. Not sure how it works outside of the USA.

cody8295··on Security Researcher Assaulted Following Vulnerability Disclosure
Edit: the vulnerability still exists on many online exam styled pages.
cody8295··on Security Researcher Assaulted Following Vulnerability Disclosure
I was once fired from a state job (USA) for bringing a vulnerability forward in the online ethics training. You can run "setScore(100, 0, 100)" in the developer console and pass the exam without actually taking it. (The state used a third party online exam provider who I contacted). I was fired by the end of the week
cody8295··on Amazon Aurora Backtrack
I don't know anything about Aurora and maybe I'm missing something. But why not just wrap everything in a TRANSACTION and then do a ROLLBACK if there's an issue?
cody8295··on Ask HN: Can machine learning be used to reduce lag in video calls?
Pretty off topic but I've always wondered if AI could help reduce static/interference in live radio streams
cody8295··on Lyme Disease Is on the Rise Again
A lot of people in Connecticut honestly believe Lyme disease was a direct result of Three Mile Island. I find the conspiracy hilarious but others take it as fact
cody8295··on Lyme Disease Is on the Rise Again
Forgot to mention, biggest tip I have is to avoid tall grass and don't touch any branches or bushes but if you do then check you hand and whole arm.
cody8295··on Lyme Disease Is on the Rise Again
I live in Connecticut, where Lyme disease was discovered. I go hiking a lot and it's a big concern for many including me. I don't use sprays or anything I just wear light colored clothing and when possible (spring and fall) long pants. Wearing lighter colored clothing allows you to notice ticks before they get to your skin. And post hike, full body tick checks are mandatory. it's a good thing most don't bite until you've stopped moving and stay still for a while. I've pulled dozens of ticks off of my body, luckily only a few that dug in
cody8295··on Ask HN: How to improve my SQL skills?
https://sqlbolt.com is a really nice interactive site that makes you pass practice queries before continuing. Gives you a sense of accomplishment when you finally figure it out.

I also really like https://www.w3schools.com/sql/trysql.asp?filename=trysql_op_... for practice but be warned it runs SQLite which can be confusing if you're more used to built in functions from other things like SQL server

cody8295··on Drop test concludes iPhone X is 'the most breakable iPhone'
I've owned my LG V20 for a few months now and I've dropped it more than a couple times, usually onto concrete or asphalt, from more than 3 feet, and without a case. It has no screen damage and everything is as functional as it was when I got it from the store.

Why do people waste so much money on delicate pieces of trash?

cody8295··on Fresh Horrors from Equifax CEO Richard Smith's Congressional Hearing
To think it could have all been avoided with simple encryption. Seriously how does a company like Equifax not encrypt this kinda stuff?

I did my AI project for uni on drug discovery. It's a really cool but super complex topic.

>There was a critical vuln in the framework, and they failed to update their box for N months. But we're talking only a few months. N is very small -- maybe four?

cody8295··on 'That Fentanyl – That's Death': A Story of Recovery in Baltimore
Legalizing heroin and regulating it like alcohol would save so many lives.

Not sure where everyone here is from, but in Connecticut we've seen hundreds of people die from fentanyl overdoses in just the past few years.

In an overwhelming majority of the cases, they were sold what they thought was heroin.

Why should we keep forcing drug addicts to buy from dangerous and expensive dealers? Not only would legalizing heroin save millions of lives, it would bring in trillions of dollars in tax revenue

cody8295··on AlphaBay, the Largest Online 'Dark Market,' Shut Down
Condolences to any users/vendors who lost coin because of the takedown.

Anybody have info on how the admin was found? Was the method of DDoSing Tor nodes used to force traffic into honeypot'd Tor nodes?

cody8295··on Ask HN: What are you trying to automate?
Dozens of thousands of outbound tickets from excel files. Basically maps excel file columns into HTML fields for a ticketing system called Kayako.

cody8295··on Infosec ethics in zero days, exploits and attribution
I was working for a tech support/student financial aid support center for a couple months and was fired for finding and using an exploit.

It was getting close to Thanksgiving and all the employees had to do state mandated online ethics training (this was a Connecticut state job).

The online ethics training was honestly bullshit, it was poorly designed and even more poorly implemented. Some slides wouldn't load fully and others would be buggy. I had to restart it about 3 times.

In my frustration I looked into the source code for shortcuts and found a javascript file which included a function called SetScore(min, max, val).

After opening Chrome dev console and trying the function, I exited the training and refreshed to see a score of 100!

I immediately emailed my managers, and the admin of the site where the training was being hosted. 2 weeks later I got a call that I was terminated.

cody8295··on Ask HN: What feature would you want the web to “force” next, after HTTPS?
HTTPGP, forced PGP encryption between client-server. Would be pretty cool
