coding123··on US-owned Greenland and Gulf of America? What a weird week
We don't have that authority.
coding123··on We are teen hackers from around the world who code together
I was in TPU when I was a teen: teenage programmers unite. Not sure if they still exist but maybe all us old members can start a construction company together!

Ahh: http://www.tpu.org/

coding123··on Mark Zuckerberg gave Meta's Llama team the OK to train on copyrighted works
Incoming: Another round of "OMG that's so illegal" from the same people that say copyright shouldn't exist.
coding123··on Sam Altman's sister files lawsuits against Sam alleging sexual abuse
Because if true it is not appropriate for him to be running OpenAI.?!?
coding123··on LA wildfires force thousands to evacuate, NASA JPL closed
Inflation in CA over the past 3 years is likely 50% (my personal estimation for necessities is over 100%) If you cut 2%, you're really cutting it by 52%. There's no way someone will want to work for peanuts. It has been gutted.
coding123··on Sam Altman accused of sexually assaulting his younger sister in lawsuit
If he survives this, then everyone is drinking the cool aid.
coding123··on Ask HN: How do you filter the Pres-elect's gish gallop?
Everything Trump says is important so I would listen carefully. We're lucky the new president knows where he is too.
coding123··on Oracle Will Not Voluntarily Withdraw JavaScript Trademark
Isn't the entire point of the term ecmascript created to resolve this?
coding123··on Mark Zuckerberg: Fact-checking on Meta is too "politically biased"
Use AI for all posts that have 10k views and do a scan for similar posts with embeddings
coding123··on Mark Zuckerberg: Fact-checking on Meta is too "politically biased"
I think a more simple solution is to expose every person to let's say Matt Walsh, Tim Pool or Charlie Kirks explanation/opinion as well as Don Lemon, Destiny and Cenk Uyger and see where they land.
coding123··on NYC Congestion Pricing Tracker
... for rich people.
coding123··on US newspapers are deleting old crime stories, offering subjects a 'clean slate'
Lol the conviction rate would drop, as they count on everyone knowing about it to pre mess with the jury.
coding123··on I'm quitting the Washington Post
They're dying because we all saw the lying for the last 4 years. Morning Joe said Joe Biden was sharper than anyone he knows. Not much needed after that to shut off the TV and go on YT from here on out. Lately I might be switching to TYT to get a more middle of road view of things.
coding123··on I Run LLMs Locally
We will at some point have a JS API to run preliminary LLM to make local decisions, then the server will be final arbiter. So for example a comment rage moderator can help an end user change their proposed post while they write it, to help them not turn the comment into rage bate. This will be done best locally on the users browser. Then when they are ready to post, one final check by the server would be done. This would be like today's React front ends doing all the state and UI computation, reducing servers from having to render HTML, for example.
coding123··on Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment?
They think you are fake if you do that. It doesn't work.
coding123··on Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment?
These people are just suffering from ODD right now. They can't handle a world-view that makes them bad or evil, and so they will do anything they can to make you look evil/crazy/unhinged/depressed or bitter.
coding123··on Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment?
I just think start with the moral issue first. Then legal experts can craft logic around that.

Basically, if an unemployed American that can write React code, that person should have a job before any H1B (or remotely hired person) at the same level, same remoteness status, etc... If all the Americans are hired, then H1B levels (and remote work Indians) may rise again.

I might have a larger shot at getting a job right now if I literally move to India and get in with one of these programming shops. Of course I won't participate in the night-time scamming operation of US grandparents.

By the way I'm half Indian

coding123··on Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment?
If this is the case, why do I get someone in India when I call US based companies for support (during their midnight)?

Should US employees do support for Indian companies during our midnight too? I'm being honest, I can probably work for a few pennies since I was laid off months ago. Anything will help keep me going at this point.

coding123··on Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment?
I mentioned a couple years back it looked like this was happening. HN shrugged.
coding123··on Should more of us be moving to live near friends?
Have you also noticed all the recalls on pretty much everything we eat? Huge sign that people are not working.
coding123··on Parents of OpenAI Whistleblower Don't Believe He Died by Suicide, Order Autopsy
I wouldn't either. Whistleblowers are getting the short of the barrel lately.
coding123··on Insiders say fraud in NY computer programming work dates back years
And here I am a US citizen with 20 years of experience and can't find a job... Someone smack someone hard across the face for me.
coding123··on Ask HN: 2026 Predictions
That actually happened this year. We just haven't realized it yet.
coding123··on Ask HN: 2026 Predictions
My Parmesan cheese is now $4, up from $3.50, price changed the day after thanksgiving.

I don't think inflation is low right now. They're working overtime to make it look low.

coding123··on 2400 phone providers may be shut down by the FCC for failing to stop robocalls
Just shut them all down for a few weeks to give this whole thing some teeth.
coding123··on San Francisco is on track to have lowest homicide rate in 60 years – KTVU FOX 2
What does it mean when it keeps saying: "making sure violence doesn't happen in the first place"

I mean, is it simply - stop mugging, instead go to CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid and steal from them to get your pocket change.

So expect the muggings and violent killings to continue when those stores are run out completely.

coding123··on Bankruptcy judge rejects sale of Infowars to The Onion
> And killing the infowars brand means little in the short/long run. The real brand is Alex's name. It's not like his audience will suddenly not follow him to a new show with a new name.

This is absolutely true. Other media people that lost their job or channel, handle on various platforms, typically refresh to the same number of followers within a year or two.

coding123··on Why America's economy is soaring ahead of its rivals
Because the single largest thing people vote for is how much better they're doing now than 4 years ago. That's just been true forever.
coding123··on Why America's economy is soaring ahead of its rivals
It's a huge problem. If we keep allowing corporate interests to hire from a pool that is willing to live in 3rd world conditions (all these immigrants are sharing a living space in such a way that natives do not) then not only are we suppressing wages, but suppressing jobs from natives. That leads to homelessness of natives trying to maintain a lifestyle they were previously accustomed to. Some moved back to parents house, some just moved onto the streets.
coding123··on Why America's economy is soaring ahead of its rivals
I'm ashamed to admit I didn't vote for him this time around because I haven't been in my home state and traveling - couldn't really get access to a ballot or mail in ballot due to my traveling.
