Of course Im not being objective here, but their Seller Protection wording could be a lot more forthcoming in communicating the lack of protection for this case.
I had no chance of appealing because Paypal would not disclose the Credit Card issuer contact info to me so that I could contact them directly
I am in contact with the police captain in the small town where the item was shipped, but I have very little faith in their ability to recover it.
I will file a local police report as well and try to appeal with paypal.
Meanwhile i want everyone to be aware that the so-called Seller Protection is totally worthless, since thats how Paypal chooses to pursue a legit fraud case.

A quick google search revealed a number of remotely configurable keypad door locks in approximately the same price range as the retail price of Lockitron. For instance:
http://nexiahome.com/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?model=04315...
* Keyless locks are great
* Depending on a phone is a very limiting requirement.
From my experience, it was a huge relief not to have to carry any valuables(such as a smartphone or keys) to the beach, because the door had a 4-digit-code lock device. If i had to carry a phone around with me, i would rather carry a set of keys.
Furthermore, if youre planning to use it for AirBnB and youre expecting that your tenants will have cell service, youre excluding international travellers who have just arrived in your town and may not have cell coverage with their international phones.
What I would like is a code-based lock that would allow me to reset the code remotely, to add multiple levels of codes, time-limited codes, etc. I would pay lockitron prices for it.
One thingI havent seen asked and answered is what do you do if the OAUTH provider does not supply email(which you mentioned is used to determined if the user has already signed in via a different provider).
For example. A user signs in via Facebook and is authenticated(his email and provider uid is stored). He then goes to a different machine/browser and signs in via Twitter which does not provide an email address neccessary to associated with a previous Facebook sign in. What then?
"And it’s not a matter of generalizing white people, rather it’s being real about the culture San Francisco creates. Other people of color, including some black people are in on it too, but the thing to remember is that there have always been people of color down with white supremacy. Matters of colonization run deep throughout the years and beneath our flesh, behind our eyes."
Furthermore ive seen people communicate with remote teams at Hackathon.
Both of these I see as sort of cheating, not unlike doping in sports, since idea of the Hackathon is to show what can be done in 10-20 hours of hacking.
However since you are foreigners, I have no idea how the insurance aspect would play out. If you go the rental route, try to see if you can get a credit card in Denmark that would cover car rental insurance overseas, otherwise you would have to pay daily car collision insurance which sometimes costs as much as the car rental itself.

@spolsky says that 24% of SO visitors are women
1) People genuinely wishing to share their knowledge
2) People that are chasing gamified elements of the reputation system
3) People that belong somewhere between #1 & #2
I dont see anything that prevents any demographic from participating as long as fall into one of these 3 categories. And i dont see how being of a particular gender or race or ethnicity precludes one from sharing their knowledge on StackOverflow
There are plenty of venues where this is true, i just dont believe SO is one.
