cnd78A··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
> The solution, then, seems to be holding people in power accountable, no?

The problem is that this is an extremely difficult step to achieve, because it does not simply depend on the will of the people. It depends on cultural evolution. Human beings are not naturally rational; like other species, we are driven by evolutionary processes that are often irrational and self-interested.

Most countries—and, more specifically, the majority of their citizens—have not yet reached this stage of civilizational development. The French are far from it, and I believe the Germans are as well. Despite belonging to the generation that emerged from a relatively recent period of cultural barbarism, Germany is currently supporting what is considered as the greatest genocide and one of the gravest sets of war crimes of our time. So I would not overestimate the level of civilization of a population whose majority appears unconcerned by what I see as such an obvious moral failure.

In my view, one of the roots of human barbarism is the tendency to overestimate either human nature itself or the moral achievements of one's own culture.

> they morally can't deal with - their subconscious starts throwing all sorts of obvious signs up until they get caught That's the view narcissistic have of human nature: "we feel so bad when we behave selfishly, because deep inside we are so naturally virtuous". It's very comfortable to believe that deep inside we remain virtous/innocent even if our life clearly shows how mediocre we are. In the real world, you are what you do.

mixing up bioweapons, malware, with hate speech (which is basically a censorship) shows how very basic people like Trump can win. Hopefully you won't wait to be censored before realizing that anything could be interpreted as "hate speech".
cnd78A··on India's surprise baby bust
a non popular theory: the more people become civilized (not using the traditional meaning) the less basic / animal they become. Animal are programmed to follow one goal : replicating one genes. Some (few) human manage to follow more elaborate (and less selfish) goals than replicating their genes.
cnd78A··on Google Declaring War on the Web
the debates is rich= bad, poor = good. The idea that they are all mediocre isn't popular on the left since it's a left dogma (and the reason why either the right always win or the left always loose).

Taking into account our mediocre human nature, I wonder how much is actually true in what we say and believe (but can't even count on (human) statistic to answer that one, can't wait for AGI)

For many people "terrorists" are the one bombing and invading, which means that Iran is currently victim of terrorism.
cnd78A··on Iran starts Bitcoin-backed ship insurance for Hormuz strait
to be fair, I bet more human knows that USA is much more dangerous to the world "order" than Iran having a nuclear weapon (Pakistan and even Israel has it, so why not Iran and Mozambic too?)

But it feels (and smell) like a third world culture if you look at the air pollution level during 6 to 8 month a year (https://maps.sensor.community/#7/52.210/18.223): nearly everywhere people burn coal (among other biomass) the air is incredibly polluted.

Someone has to do it, and it should be seen as a great service to society and rewarded accordingly

You are just too priviledge to understand people: many people would be glad do do it for the minimum wage, I would fight to have that oportunity (I live in west EU).

cnd78A··on Meta in row after workers who saw smart glasses users having sex lose jobs
t’s a terrible job

you must be extremy priviledge to think that way, even as EU I would be glad to do it for the minimum salary. For your info, a terrible job for most human is a job that is extremly hard physically at the point of destroying your health. That said, like many people, I would find it much more interesting than many boring job. [If someone read this, please hire me for this, in exchange I would work the 5 first hour for free]

cnd78A··on Israel escalates attacks on medics in Lebanon with deadly 'quadruple tap'
* A Zionist can want Israelites to live in peace where they currently are* = they want to live in peace in a land they took by murdering its inhabitant. You can have Jews living in Palestine though but it's not Zionism.
cnd78A··on Israel escalates attacks on medics in Lebanon with deadly 'quadruple tap'
The reality is much simplier, it's not a one man story not even a top down one. If you had travel on those area you would know that their leader reflect the will / moral sense of the population. Most Israelis approve the genocide, most Russians and Americans don't mind invading other nations.

It's not specific to US, those aren't enforced in most EU countries (eg. it's quite obvious in France).

"Iran's regime sucked" because they kicked out our western puppet? or is it because Iran is a a democracy, unlike "other Arab nations" (by the way iranian are as much arabs than you) or Israel ? (Note that I'm not fan of Iran culture, but I'm not fan of ingroup cultures either).
cnd78A··on Sam Altman's response to Molotov cocktail incident

You forgot one huge players: popular revolutions. All muslims nations that are currently managed by western puppets dictors, every single one. The puppets know their population don't like what Israels and globally most western nations are doing in the middle east and thus tried hard to pretend they support the muslim world. But this war show clearly to their population who these puppets really serve. I bet few revolutions will shake the middle east soon, and those will be powerfull (I don't believe they will create mature democraties, as those things require centuries of progress but, they won't as easy to control). And those revolution won't be easely stolen like the previous one, also because Israel don't seem to realize it lost its support from western nations, it's just a matter a time it ends up on its own.

cnd78A··on DRAM pricing is killing the hobbyist SBC market
Many countries would develop much faster if there weren't bombed nor maintain by puppet dictactors from (economically) developped nations (USA and france keep doing this intensively, while countries like Germany dont mind supporting fascist states). (PS: I'm not woke, not even Marxist).

your comment makes also no sense to me, I exclusively use very low-end phones from Xiaomi since 6 years, and change it only when it's dead or when I can't run my apps (I'm afraid mine won't last 2 years more). Before this I kept my first smartphone (iphone 3GS) for 10.
