Obama and Biden implied the same thing when it came to their favorite electric car companies, with many public visits to their plants, championing American-made electric cars and blatantly ignoring Tesla because they refused to unionize. So, the Trump team is just setting the record straight that Tesla is America's best electric car company (by far), and we should all be proud of it rather than trying to tear it down.
I thought it was brilliant wokeness by the NBC reporter to translate "F* Joe Biden" chant to say "Let's Go Brandon". The subsequent adoption of "Let's Go Brandon" as a code for what people really want to say is hilarious and has become a major meme across America. For YouTube to deny this hilarious turn of events is happening is downright laughable. Clearly YouTube (and Facebook) are in deeply in bed with the Whitehouse, which should make everyone very concerned.
I love my Spotify, especially love I can now use it in my Tesla. I mostly use it for podcast channels, like Joe Rogan and Charles Mizrahi. But I also rarely use their recommender, I mostly know what music I like or I get recommendations from friends I know well. A dislike button sounds like a great idea, even if it is purely for the psychological pleasure pressing it.
Fantastic story. I joined Microsoft in 1997 but unfortunately I cannot confirm the story, I never heard this story before, but it doesn't surprise me, we had a lot of fun back then with all kinds of pranks, and Easter eggs, until one day it was all suddenly stopped, ship an Easter egg and get fired was what they told us. That was a very sad day. I can confirm that Microsoft was doing things with Java back then, I worked in an XML parser written in Java when I first joined Microsoft.
Great you are reaching out for mentorship. Great move. Some of the best moves I made in my career I also felt woefully out of my depth - scared even, but it stretched me and I grew. You'll be amazed at what you can do. But you've been in your current position for 5 years, you should be more confident by now. Why is it you still feel under-experienced. Are you talking about your field of software engineering, or the field of financial services. It is ok to not be an expert in financial services industry, you are there because of your software skills. So continue to learn and grow in software engineering. If you don't have the passion to learn about financial services in your spare time, then I'd look for a job at different company. Life is too short not to absolutely love what you are doing at work.
The title of this post is all wrong. Microsoft != Windows. Microsoft is so much more. I also like Windows 10, they've done a good job, no more blue screens. Windows Subsystem on Linux is the best thing Windows has done in years and how not to love the new Terminal app. So go Windows! I also love the fact that I can still run an unmodified Windows app that I wrote back in 1996. Try doing that on any other platform!
Yeah, I guess developers will have to all become data scientists to help train these A.I's to write better code :-) Perhaps there will be a new business model around selling your higher quality code to help train the A.I to be better and better... so we need to label code "good" and "crap" so the A.I. can avoid learning from crappy code :-)
Yep, this is the same reason I've been using https://github.com/clovett/myMoney.Net for the last 20 years and I have to say the data I have now is invaluable. But I have noticed a lot of banks are shutting down their OFX gateways which is disturbing. I think Intuit is moving them all to online backend closed systems which sucks. We should start a citizen initiated referendum to stop that trend and force banks to remain open, letting consumers download their data!!
I agree with the paper, it has a great description of the problems with debugging distributed systems. But I think it is missing one type of solution which we call "Systematic Testing". See https://microsoft.github.io/coyote/. This is a testing tool that integrates into your development process and has been used successfully by several large very complex distributed systems inside of Azure.
