circularfoyers··on Bricked iPhone 16 Can Be Restored Wirelessly Using Another iPhone
I believe the point isn't to let you rollback at will, but it'll automatically rollback if it fails a boot check, so before anything is written to the filesystem. However, it's worth noting that Fedora Silverblue/IoT let's you rollback at will without problem.
circularfoyers··on Bricked iPhone 16 Can Be Restored Wirelessly Using Another iPhone
I still don't understand why Apple haven't changed their update model to A/B partitions, so if an update can't boot, it boots the previous partition. Android has been doing this for a while and Fedora Silverblue/IoT does the same thing, both of which I've found really useful in the past. If communicated well, it would elviate the update anxiety many people I know have with their iPhones.
circularfoyers··on TP-Link GPL Code Center
Is this just an assumption, or did you open many of them and have a look? If so, what line of devices did you look at out of curiosity?
circularfoyers··on OpenStreetMap Is Turning 20
I believe they did it because OSM in most places is very outdated or even non existent for businesses, which was probably one of the top uses of it in a search engine.

Having contributed quite a lot to OSM, I can say though that it was generally a lot better for hiking tracks than Google maps.

circularfoyers··on Show HN: Tegon: Open-source alternative to Jira, Linear
Do you support local LLMs? I could only see an ENV for OPENAI_API_KEY.
circularfoyers··on NanoKVM: Affordable, Multifunctional, Nano RISC-V IP-KVM
I was very excited until I saw this. I think I'd rather pay more for a device with this level of access to be running software that isn't completely unknown. I hope it's possible to have PiKVM support this at a future date.
circularfoyers··on Abandoned villages of Hong Kong
Unfortunately this removes the images it seems.

Is there any context to this document? Was this just leaked or previously leaked, where was it originally posted, etc?

circularfoyers··on A lost X-Files song
The same on SBS OnDemand, for anyone in Australia.
circularfoyers··on Don't kill my app
Where did you bring this up? It would be interesting to read their response. If you hadn't, I imagine their Github repo would be the best place to do so https://github.com/urbandroid-team/dont-kill-my-app
circularfoyers··on Show HN: Internet Speed Test
Would be interesting to see the latency graphed at the same time.
circularfoyers··on CloudFlare is blocking traffic to Discord
Looks like it might be global based on the subreddit[1]. Oddly reinstalling the app fixed it for me, while it still shows the Cloudflare error page on Chromium. Meanwhile, the website loads fine on Firefox.

circularfoyers··on The many vulnerabilities in SOHO and industrial wireless routers
Attended Sysupgrade (https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/installation/attended.sy...) makes it a lot less painful.
circularfoyers··on Show HN: Android Hacker News Widget and App
The best looking HN android app in my opinion. I just wish it was still being developed. Mostly because of the bug where the comments flicker wildly when you open a thread with lots of comments.
circularfoyers··on Public restrooms are hard to find in America
For anyone curious, this is the clip mentioned, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D5qK8oh5lY
circularfoyers··on Linux network performance parameters
Can you provide some examples of different contexts where Linux or FreeBSD might be better or worse choices?
circularfoyers··on Pysentation: CLI for displaying Python presentations
I've been using https://github.com/jaspervdj/patat previously, but this looks like a worthy alternative. Nice work, I'll have try this out :)
circularfoyers··on MacWhisper: Transcribe audio files on your Mac
I must have missed this on my usual peruse of new apps on Flathub. Thanks for making it, will look forward to trying it out.
circularfoyers··on Mousetrap.jl: a GUI library for Julia and C++ that wraps GTK4
There are hundreds of apps on Flathub that already use GTK 4. Bottles, Easy Effects, Mission Center, Amberol, Celluloid, are all popular (more than 60,000 installs from Flathub) examples of apps that are using GTK 4. I personally use all of them and think they are some of the best looking apps available on Linux.

Furthermore, Flatpaks do exist since, like you've stated, it is easy to implement https://flathub.org/apps/search?q=totp

How about OpenWRT? It appears it has support for MPLS[1], IS-IS[2], and VXLAN[3]. Where VXLAN appears to even have a LuCI component[4].

The included cheatsheet includes a fair bit and all the recommended tools you'd need to solve the mystery.
circularfoyers··on Nitter Redirect: Firefox addon to view Twitter link without an account
Both of these two options other than Libredirect are fairly inconvenient for switching between instances or having to maintain multiple for different frontends. Furthermore, while it doesn't obviously guarantee it won't become malware, Libredirect is completely open source.

This also surprised me. I thought 5" is what was considered small. Thinking back to my Nexus 5.
circularfoyers··on OPNsense: Open-source security platform
I'm referring to the kernel implementation of it, unless you weren't. But I think you likely are, considering it is now in the mainline FreeBSD kernel. But this took more than 2 years after it was mainlined into the Linux kernel[1], and the delay was largely was because of what happened regarding it's initial implementation[2]. That's the debacle I'm talking about.

circularfoyers··on OPNsense: Open-source security platform
This and the debacle with Wireguard are the two top reasons that have kept me on OpenWRT.
circularfoyers··on Second Life by Linden Lab, the company I've worked for since 2004, turn 20 today [video]
Does anyone have any insight on how Second Life compares to VRChat? Seems to me that it's the modern day version of Second Life.
