chrisyeah··on Dropbox telemetry can't be disabled
The discussion is from 2020/2021. That would have been good to mention in the title on HN.
chrisyeah··on Coming to Chrome: a new way to use tabs
Same. I was really excited first when I saw this feature. After installing it, I barely use it now. It helps a bit for a first overview, but my tab bar is still super full.
chrisyeah··on Ask HN: What's your quarantine side project?
We used the time to work on renovating an old historic vault, in order to make it an outdoor vault / barbecue spot.

We actually already started renovating before the lockdown. But since there are not so many leisure activities anymore, now we took almost all our free time to focus on this private project.

Some days ago I started documenting it on Instagram, if you want to check it out: https://www.instagram.com/gewoelbefichtelgebirge/ (texts are in German).

A great next iteration would be to let users fold/unfold those groups, so that you only have one visible "tab" per group in the top bar.

This would really help the "tab collecters" (like me, who had to close 78 tabs some weeks ago).

chrisyeah··on Strong, Unique and Memorable Passwords: a Creative Approach
Instead of well known lines one could use his own story with some figures, combined with a fictive word.

For example: tree_eating_5surlap_on_bear (with "surlap" as the fictive word)

Somewhere you just (try to) draw a tree with a mouth, which is eating 5 question marks (representing the fictive word), standing on a bear.

However, I personally prefer mixed incoherent characters and numbers.

chrisyeah··on When Everyone Wants To Watch 'House Of Cards,' Who Pays?
Presently there is also a huge debate (with political discussions and petitions) about net neutrality in Germany and other European countries (mainly EU).

In 2013 there was a petition [1] to try to bind the internet providers to net neutrality.

chrisyeah··on World Startup Wiki (by World Startup Report)
Just tried to post the same link (and got redirected here) and I am wondering why nobody is interested in this!?

I think this could be an interesting starting point for a prospective startup to research and for a market/startup scene overview.

chrisyeah··on Why Open Source misses the point of Free Software
Maybe some people might say "I want to give you my code for free and you can sell it in the future."
chrisyeah··on How to Make Money from Spotify by Streaming Silence
And what would you say if YOU were Spotify? "Damn cheaters!!"
chrisyeah··on MH370: A different point of view
I agree. And the fact that this article's author is also a pilot ("We old pilots were always drilled...") makes his thesis even more trustable.
chrisyeah··on Poll: Asking for a friend – what do you understand by "6x4"
My first thought: a small rectangle (width: 6px, height:4px)
chrisyeah··on Creating a New Business Model for Cartoonists
Do you recieve a commission when other drawers' cartoons are sold?

(And one thing: If you sell your cartoon to a magazine which doesn't allow further publishing then you still have the same problem for this cartoon to not be able to publish/sell it again. But for your other (not sold to a magazine) cartoons this would definitely be a benefical platform.) I think your idea could be working ;)
