There’s also been a fork recently called BB Studio adapting it to make NES games:
I just built it up slowly, making small tools to help me make sense of what was going on while learning GBDK, before I knew it pretty much had something I could package up. I’ve had a lot of help along the way though, untoxa’s [0] engine rewrite, and the work pau-tomas [1] did on the music editor have been especially helpful to the project.
Been a bit absent from the community recently, not had the time, but hoping to get back on it again soon!
I’m always amazed at how many awesome games people keep making though, it makes me really happy as this the first of many failed side projects that I pushed on through to completion.
Really cool to see GB Studio being used for this.
Very much looking forward to these new RTK APIs. Thanks again for your help.
I'll definitely have a look at your project for some ideas.
It's been a side project of mine for quite a while as I was learning Electron and C/GBDK at the same time so don't judge me too harshly on the code hehe.
It's early days for the project so not quite decided how I want to expand it out just yet, maybe to more genres, maybe to allow more JRPG functionality. What ever I end up doing though I want to make sure it's as simple as possible for beginners to make something as easy as possible!

Still getting lots of use out of my childhood Game Boy.
I ended up writing a rough JS implementation of GBDK and used Emscripten so I could debug those kinds of things while making GameBoy roms.

There's something about working within the limitations of retro systems that's really fun.
Got an example project at
