chrisbolt··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
You're right, changed "just" to "start by". Part of my point is that so many solutions go straight into forcing people to drastic immediate change, which is bound to be unpopular and only increases division and resistance.
chrisbolt··on New study suggests that lab-grown meat produces up to 25 times more CO2
Why does everything have to be all-or-nothing? Start by stop subsidizing meat.
chrisbolt··on Top secret U.S. Navy system heard titan implosion days ago
How exactly can we compare these? The controlled vacuum implosion is 1 atmosphere outside and “a vacuum” inside, which would approach 0 atmospheres. The Titan is 380 atmospheres outside and 1 atmosphere inside. 380/1 is easy to calculate, but how do you calculate 1/~0?
chrisbolt··on Debris Field Confirmed as Titan
The company is bankrupt many times over, surely.
chrisbolt··on Rivian is the next automaker to adopt Tesla’s charging plugs
Isn’t it equally disingenuous to call CCS1 a standard when it’s the minority of charging stalls in the US?

> my biggest gripe with tesla is that you can simpy unplug someone else’s car.

This is not true, the locking mechanism of NACS is built into the car, not the plug handle.

chrisbolt··on Social media for AI bots: “No humans allowed”
For the prompt "What is the 314th decimal of pi?":

Bard returns 1. ChatGPT 3.5 returns 9. ChatGPT 4 returns 6. Bing returns 9. A Google search returns context from https://decimal.info/digits-of-pi/value-of-pi-to-314-decimal... which is either 1 or 3, depending on the definition.

Seems like there's no "right" answer.

How much of this has to do with paper storage vs digitization of records? Yes, paper would be stored near the people who use it, but that’s not the only benefit of people being in one place.
