choot··on Student Team Wins Amazon Alexa Artificial Intelligence Challenge
These countries have big population and using AI universal basic income can be made possible back home.

This is why Chinese are acquiring AI expertise.

choot··on BitTorrent owner Tron will invest $100M in blockchain games
I wonder how much money Tron has in total.
choot··on US Army awards Microsoft with $480M HoloLens contract
It's just an hour so far. Give it more time.
choot··on How to Almost Learn Italian
Most people don't suck with vocabulary. They suck with making native sounding phrases!

They suck with the phonems!

I've absolute pitch. I can speak any language exactly how a native person would speak.

My wife knows more languages than me, yet she sounds like a foreigner based on feedback we received while traveling in multiple countries.

Most people even if they've fluency in a language will still sound like a foreigner.

Now, if you've absolute pitch you can differentiate between different pitched sound and match native speakers.

Most people can't do that!

choot··on Two Cybercrime Rings and Eight Defendants Indicted for Digital Advertising Fraud
1. You don't feel like offensive hacker while running legitimate business.

2. Legitimate business requires more than just talent! If you don't know people in power, don't have the required connections, good luck getting necessary permits etc..

3. Starting capital due to compliance requirements is much higher! It pretty much excludes everyone who isn't coming from an Ivy league.

4. There is a very high probability that even if you've all the resources you might fail.

5. Government officials might as well take over your company anytime. (In former Soviet countries and corrupt third world countries, government officals do takeovers your business)

Simply money, isn't enough in itself. VCs also bring top level connections, including people who will serve as executives in future with intimate connection to Goverment.

These guys don't have anything else other than cheap labor (which will do anything provided it doesn't have to do with messing with the authorities of the countries they are living in) and their own skill.

choot··on We are Google employees – Google must drop Dragonfly
Wow! So basically, someone managed to risk police offier lives with their ill thought out plan and people on HN are applauding them?

What should a police crew use against a criminal equipped with high caliber armor piercing guns?

choot··on China Expands Research Funding, Luring U.S. Scientists and Students
I wonder when will Russia do the same.

choot··on First gene-edited babies claimed in China
I've IQ of 90 (taken it multiple times) which is considered below average on Standford Binnet test.

I didn't do good at school but i had many friends! I never felt i was less intelligent than my friends which make me question the IQ score thing.

My Dad has high IQ (135) and he's a mathematician.

So how did i inhert low IQ? My mom's score is average at best, 102.

I've sold 3 companies, i am married and I've managed to be quite wealthy.

You don't need to posses high intelligence to survive and reproduce in this world that's why it's not selected for.

We don't walk out of womb and given a puzzle to solve where if we fail, we are instantly killed.

choot··on How I changed the law with a GitHub pull request
So by hacking GitHub, now laws can be changed?

I want sentences to be GitHub as well, so that an inmate can hack github to change his sentence.

choot··on Do You Have a Moral Duty to Leave Facebook?
Facebook's dating service doesntt promise "getting laid" part.

But it's consequence of every dating site in existence.

Offering employees perk in your own service has never been illegal.

Ford gave its employees ford cars. No one bat an eye lid.

choot··on Do You Have a Moral Duty to Leave Facebook?
>Do you have any sources for the VIP claim?

Do the people talking at a local bar qualify as sources?

choot··on Ask HN: Is there a better way to document complex software architectures?
Draw.io has Amazon service icoms and GCP too. Did you try that?
choot··on Astronomers detect water in the atmosphere of a planet 179 light-years away
Detecting water is a new thing?

People have been using Drowsing for ages.

Galatic Drowsing.

choot··on Ask HN: Is there a better way to document complex software architectures?
I never knew architect was a thing in software.
choot··on VPN Extensions are not for privacy
Why not tor? Because it's slow and many website are block when i use tor.
choot··on Comparison of the Best NSFW Image Moderation APIs 2018
We use this in our adtech campaign moderation.
choot··on Why would someone buy from a Shopify store when they can get it on Amazon?
I buy from shopify store when the seller has not listed that product on amazon. Otherwise, i always choose Amazon because using amazon i am able to dispute without chargebacks and trouble, when a seller sends me broken stuff.

Amazon handles returns free of cost where i live, so i don't need to courier return on my own.

choot··on Ask HN: Startup 3D printer or China for manufacturing?
Well for our start-up, we 3D printed the prototypes then sent the CAD files to plastic mould manufacturer in China.

3D printing is expensive if your object is large. Old school manufacturing is a way to go for now.

That way we got lots of units built in bulk.

choot··on Bali’s 'magic' bamboo homes [video]
Excluding void.
choot··on In Defense of “Mindless Rote” (2001)
I've absolute pitch.

I've learned the name of every note and commited it to my memory through spaced repetitions

Even if you play any complex melody, i can split it and tell you names of the exact notes.

Is this training? Rote learning? Intelligence?

When i show people this, they say you are gifted but I've simply commited things to my memory.

choot··on High exposure to radio frequency radiation associated with cancer in male rats
Why would it be surprising when proteins offer life form and function. If Radio frequency radiation can alter form of a protein then we might develop cancer?

You only have to alter few proteins, so the duplication of cell become errrorneous and all subsequent cells are affected.

You can prove this in testube, simply bombard a protein with Radio waves.

Edit: i don't understand the downvotes, please educate.

choot··on Bali’s 'magic' bamboo homes [video]
I've always wondered why there aren't lasers which can shoot down mosquitoes on its own.

Density of Carbon Fiber is 1743kg/m^3 and that of Bamboo is 1160 kg/m^3.

Acrlyic, Nylon, Polycarbonate have similar density as Bamboo.

Bamboo's strength falls somewhere between fiberglass and carbon fiber

Some things to think about include ecological factors (bamboo is renewable), environmental factors (bamboo is flammable), loading factors (steel can be made ductile and its high properties are isotropic), and weight considerations (bamboo is much less dense) compared to Steel.

For a long time i am looking for a synthetic bamboo equivalent for acoustic properties.

But so far I've not found anything similar. I am thinking, what if I engrave bamboo like pattern on carbon fiber, will it produce similar acoustic?

Can any material/sound/chem engineer help me?

choot··on How one Indian city cracked the problem of urban spread
Motorcycle aren't as safe as cars.
choot··on Climate change is turning dehydration into a deadly epidemic
I wonder why isn't there a website where people, it could have been posted "workers are dying in El"

Then other people on the internet would have suggested theories and some might even have got more evidence.

Why researchers keep this detective work to themselves? Why not take inputs from internet?

choot··on Climate change is turning dehydration into a deadly epidemic
I wonder if an app can be built, so that when above normal people are dying in a place a well funded international team can be dispatched to figure out the issue as soon as possible.

So that we are able to contain mysterious virus and other such outbreaks.

Why wait till more people lose their life?
