Kind of sad.
As my eyes and coordination are not as good as they were hitting buy now and having fully assembled boards come back for basically the cost of the parts and the PCB was game changing for me.
Whether you have ten thousand words or a million inside you go for it and either upload it as a free eBook if you think its good enough to one of the many sites or just leave it for your kids or grandkids to find and have something nice to pass on through history.
Never start writing thinking about the money side, there are thousands of books out there which have never sold one book, you may get lucky, but without investing the same amount of time in marketing you will never get anyone to even open it, so do it but do it for fun.
My first novel was fun to write, I released it on Kindle and never told anyone, for the first three months I was so happy just to see it there, just like a proper book, even though I bought the only copy. I am now half a million words into my second novel and still loving it.
I may have not made a penny from sales but I have a much broader vocabulary and have saved at least two hundred dollars by not having as much time to read anymore.
The editors I wrote back in the eighties were just linked lists of pascal strings so a line was limited to 256 characters but these were very fast in VMS and DOS
Also we only had a few character sets and you could live your whole life in ASCII
Clearly though their is more to a movie or book than just the plot.
Speed wise on this last conversion project with the same first level optimizations GCC is a good 50% faster, the Java parts feel about the same or a bit slower though, Disclaimer I never go to extreme optimization settings on compilers, was bitten several years back and happy to not go cutting edge.
Also Pascal is much less toxic community for noobs I got to the point about ten years back I would rather not ask the question on-line for GCC due to the fact I would be branded stupid for not knowing some obscure linker setting or such like.
end of my career now, happy Pascal was part of it, especially in the early Turbo Pascal DOS days, I doubt I would have carried on at the time if I was forced to use C (I later did and it wasnt that bad but I had to scratch my head at the time how people thought it better)
