lol. honestly, I appreciate your sense of humor.

Edit: Thanks, for the downvote, I am not being sarcastic. Geez, get a sense of humor.

charred_toast··on Cisco's Feud with Former Star Executive Turns Personal and Costly
Did you skip the middle of the book? Those two people went through a lot together, especially within the forum of facing-off with their competitors, one after another. Guy was integral to Nike and ultimately he chose to work for the "enemy." Think what you want, but either Phil Knight was too much of a douche for too long, which wore him thin, or he stabbed his boss in the back.
charred_toast··on Vice Just Released Chilling Footage from Behind Charlottesville’s Battle Lines
I wholeheartedly agree.

How about it being a felony to brand yourself part of a party that was an enemy of the state at one point? Not citizens of other countries, but self-professed members of a political class or party that caused a war and casualties. Would the United States permit an ISIS rally, or an Al Qaeda rally in the middle of a city with a state University? But yet somehow we're allowing one of the most heinous groups in all of history, one that we were at war with less than 100 years ago, to represent themselves in public, armed and screaming for inequality, for murder of people that aren't pure Aryan?

This isn't a freedom of speech issue, this is a what are we going to tolerate issue. We won't let people walk down the street with an AL Qaeda shirt on, why should we let people walk down the street with swastikas?

charred_toast··on Researcher Who Stopped WannaCry Ransomware Detained in US After Def Con
The license to for such illegal actions became legal after 9/11. This is nothing new. Police abductions happen in the pretty USA too.
charred_toast··on Change in Real Home Prices Since 2000
This is going to sound paranoid, obviously, but I was thinking if China ever wanted to start a war with North America, it has quite a sizable population in the US and Canada that could potentially contribute to that aim.
charred_toast··on An email list’s open rate drops over 50% after changes to Gmail spam filtering
Can confirm — Google's own Spam reports are going to the Spam folder. Was it the word Spam that triggered it? lol.
charred_toast··on Sony plans to make vinyl records again
If you're looking for the best music discovery on the planet, or just some easy eclectic listening while you cook, then try KCRW. Public radio at its very finest. Based in Los Angeles, it's what I recommend to any music listener if they get tired of streaming their own music all day everyday. Let me also plug Gilles Peterson who has a show on BBC Radio 6 every Saturday morning, PST. I've been buying records for over two decades and I will tell you there is still an art in "finding" new great music, and in my experience, you have to still listen to the "radio" to find it.
charred_toast··on The Decline of Imgur on Reddit and the Rise of Reddit's Native Image Hosting
Yes I noticed that too; it's most likely an image recognition algorithm paired with a AI tag parsing program generating a related image.
charred_toast··on Government Spyware Targets Mexican Journalists and Their Families
Of course it does. These days, just imagine the most insidious and nightmarish overreach and wait a few weeks. 2017 is looking like a benchmark year in this regard.
charred_toast··on Performing Google Search Using Python
I redundantly made the following comment upon referring to this comment later in this thread:

Try Google Custom Search as well, $100 a year for 20k queries; I'm a client.

charred_toast··on Performing Google Search Using Python
I commented earlier on this post about it being impossible for a bot to do search on Google. Turns out I turned to the same resource you're recommending. I'd also recommend sending a python bot to your favorite news sites once a day for updates instead. Same deal, Beautiful Soup. On the other hand, Google has Custom Search, which is $100 a year for 20k queries. I use that as well.
charred_toast··on USPTO Director Michelle Lee Resigns
Good call.
charred_toast··on Performing Google Search Using Python
This is good work. I thought there was no way to do this since Google Search blocks bots.
charred_toast··on iPad Pro
Yeah, the Surface is such an exciting product. "Get the iPad that everyone is talking about! *cough, I meant Surface"
charred_toast··on New research indicates ‘Unicorns’ are overvalued
That's what I was trying to argue sarcastically, apparently ineffectively.
charred_toast··on New research indicates ‘Unicorns’ are overvalued
Yeah, when fucking websites are worth more than real estate it takes a genius to figure out there is something amiss. /s
charred_toast··on The dark legacy of Carlos Castaneda (2007)
Yeah, wake up in the morning and then shortly thereafter go back to sleep.
charred_toast··on Show HN: Django-slack-events-api – A minimal Django app for making Slack bots
Really cool; I'll have to try this out. Thanks for sharing.
charred_toast··on I Want to Apologize for How This Tragedy Has Hurt Our Stock Price
Awesome. This made my day to know someone out there realizes that what is happening to American and others' cultural values due to money is backward-ass.
charred_toast··on The FCC voted to start the process of eliminating net neutrality rules
That's exactly what net neutrality protects — consumer choice. Corporations aren't consumers, however, as they, Pai, and yourself are trying to argue that they are. This is taxation and extortion, plain and simple. You don't have to be a genius to see that. Arguments like yours are becoming a dime-a-dozen this decade; purposefully detracting from the issue and making it seem more complicated than it is to confuse people. Websites that are heavily trafficked already pay a premium to keep their services up and running — it's called infrastructure. ISPs want a piece of someone else's pie - have you seen "There Will Be Blood?" The internet is a milkshake, and Comcast, Verizon, and their disgusting ilk, to which you seem to want to be a party of, find it amusing to imagine having some very long straws, different from the kind that belongs to the man in your argument.
charred_toast··on Google accuses Uber of creating a fake company in order to steal its tech
If it turns out to be a huge case ($$$$$) then I can forsee Google owning part of Uber if not outright.
charred_toast··on Hanging up my spurs
Judging by his website, because of his extraordinary ability to vet tech opportunities. Check out the list on his Posse page - it's staggering.
charred_toast··on How “engagement” made the web a less engaging place
I'm liking where this is going.
charred_toast··on Reuters' position on covering Trump
It's sad and unfortunate that considering the progress we've made as humans, that those in power are utterly afraid of the truth. It makes me ashamed to be a human being sometimes for this reason. We won't progress or 'evolve' unless this fact changes.
charred_toast··on What’s up with Firefox?
this
charred_toast··on De-Googleify Internet
We're all economic and spiritual slaves now. Nothing will make a difference. All lights of hope will be stamped out when we get our one-world government. Have a great day!
charred_toast··on Snowden: Stop Relying on Facebook for Your News
I can't believe so many people actually use facebook. It's a time suck, a voyeuristic and narcissistic view into people's lives, a government database, etc...
