Too many alternative domains and you will get a new warning from yslow. Every time you pull from a new domain, this will incur a dns lookup, might even end up with the page going slower because them.
Looking at http://www.alexa.com/topsites for example, which of those would you think Rails could make faster?
A simple config for multiple resource domains is nice; but I'm not a fan of helper functions. javascript_include_tag just isnt as clear as <script src="/location/of/file"></script>
I would also say the title is very presumptuous; claiming to make all pages load faster is an unachievable goal & clearly an exaggeration.
Joking aside the question is commonly used by interviewers in many disciplines. Being able to critique yourself and your work does show some useful personal skills.
edited for spelling mistake
Someone has a good idea, thinks they can make money from it so tries to..
If your idea is truely novel then im pretty sure you will come across many 'difficult problems' that need solving.
Gender doesnt matter, ability & a good idea are the important things.
O, and btw if it wasn't for a bunch of guys trying to solve difficult problems you wouldn't have a computer. at all.
Would you rather have clear, readable content or be besieged by advertising ..
On sites target devs you should really expect very high % to be using ad blockers ... I'm yet to meet a single dev that doesn't use it in some form.
(edit: I didn't even realise it was ad supported for that reason .. still think its a good service though )
Being well over 6ft means that i'm naturally heavier than a 5ft something and generally struggle to fit within average size seating on aircraft. My issue is that of length rather than width.
I do what I can by getting an aisle seat, but its not exactly comfortable having knees wedged under my chin as the gap between seats as tiny and upgrades arent cheap.
Should you really penalize people because of their genetics?
How about an option on import like "mark all as read" otherwise i see people with massive git projects having a moan.
edited to add idea..
Just a shame so many ie6 people have IT overlords that mandate its use .. hopefully that will change as more convert to windows 7.
If youre on a host that has half the cpu but 3 times the RAM then more processes are queued.
During a heavy load the larger RAM will mean more threads can be handled as there is space to store them in memory.
As you have a slower cpu it will take a bit longer, but you should fulfill more of the incoming requests.
or something along those lines.
I wouldn't say sell yourself short but always be realistic. For example if its a deadline you want to give for a project will take 2 weeks, build in some space for running over (a % based on complicity and client) and give that.
In your case I think your talking features. You can promise the basics first and discuss a 'stage 2' which adds more functions later.. If you get those done before planned thats a big plus.
Most clients only remember failures, not success. So I would agree with you on this one.
edit: Sorry, someone below has said similar thing.. should of read the entire thread first!
That is OpenIDs big flaw... How many average web users do you know that remember a url? Most of them head to google to find sites they know well.
This is why facebook connect and the like are more popular; they are easy.
