chairmanwow1··on Muse Glimmer is a memory hierarchy disguised as a 30B Transformer
The title is AI generated and that was enough for me

chairmanwow1··on MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
Yeah my M1 is still insanely snappy. Would be nice to have some extra legroom for things like compilation, but I'm far from feeling this device isn't sufficient for me.
chairmanwow1··on Claude Code is being dumbed down?
Much better in the codex cli harness
chairmanwow1··on Roomba maker goes bankrupt, Chinese owner emerges
New Chinese phones and cars are incredible.
chairmanwow1··on Google Antigravity
There are situations when this is not the case case for sure.
chairmanwow1··on AI Demos
I was getting this from inside the US, however setting my VPN to LA worked to get around it. I assume this is because that's where the Meta engineers are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: Once accessed there is this note:

> This research demo is not open to residents of, or those accessing the demo from, the States of Illinois or Texas.

and I'm in TX

chairmanwow1··on Elon Musk's Demolition Crew
Same way the man that knew nothing about rockets built the company that builds the world’s most sophisticated launch vehicles.

By understanding problems and then solving them. I cannot think of a more universally useful skillset.

chairmanwow1··on Spanish police arrest ex-fraud chief after €20M found in walls of his house
This is a strawman. The homeless schizophrenic is clearly not capable of caring for themselves, so their inability to participate in society should not impose restrictions on all businesses.

The problem you cite is not solved by requiring businesses to accept cash—it is solved by removing the homeless schizophrenic from the depravity of the street.

chairmanwow1··on Spanish police arrest ex-fraud chief after €20M found in walls of his house
Legal residents absolutely 100% all have _access_ to cards, whether they choose to use them is another matter.
chairmanwow1··on Spanish police arrest ex-fraud chief after €20M found in walls of his house
This is a good argument against cards, but does not address GP's claim that card-only payments is discriminatory.
chairmanwow1··on Spanish police arrest ex-fraud chief after €20M found in walls of his house
How on earth is requiring card payments discriminatory? Providing cash payment options is absolutely not free and implies extra risk on behalf of the business.

Refusing to take part in the banking system is not worth penalizing businesses for. Let the free market work.

chairmanwow1··on Starship's Sixth Flight Test
Well, I started planning a road trip down Austin as soon as I saw this post. Crew of friends is coming together to watch! Thanks for posting. I'm so excited to witness this in person.
chairmanwow1··on Llama 3.2: Revolutionizing edge AI and vision with open, customizable models
Zuck has said this very thing in multiple interviews. This is value accretive to Meta. In the same was open sourcing their data center compute designs was.
chairmanwow1··on Comma.ai: Refactoring for Growth
You don’t need a github account or a soldering iron to use this.
chairmanwow1··on Mystery as 4k-year-old axe-heads sent to museum
Yeah this is what a $60k fine gets you. It’s a silly law to try and prevent metal detecting.

in that you trust them less?
chairmanwow1··on Show HN: Neosync – Open-Source Data Anonymization for Postgres and MySQL
Interesting, but why does it matter that I actually keep the same the same statistical distributions of data in development as in production? What are the use cases for that kind of feature?
chairmanwow1··on JIT WireGuard
My startup used Fly for almost a year. The core feature of code to deployed code in less than a minute is beautiful. Spinning up / down new nodes for backfills takes seconds.

But the company feels a little immature. Once our API server became unreachable in Fly for 48 hours. I'm not sure if it was my fault for getting config wrong or if they just had another "silent" failure. They have a "db" product, but it's "not managed postgres". Would get consistent disconnections from that. Just feels weird for them to add a top level noun in their cli for postgres and then limit the extent it's a feature they support.

API access to their core service would frequently go down and leave us waiting to deploy new service fixes.

I miss the deployment experience, but I'm frankly happier with Cloud Run on GCP. Just way fewer "surprises" and much more complete documentation.

chairmanwow1··on PaperMC/Paper: The most widely used, high performance Minecraft server
How did you do that? I run a fabric server and was instructed to just stay away from Paper/Spigot because they break redstone so badly.
chairmanwow1··on Foldmation: Interactive Origami Folding
Is this supposed to animate? Just snaps through steps for me on Mac Chrome
chairmanwow1··on Tesla FSD Timeline
They also have teleoperators remotely to tale over.

chairmanwow1··on Bard’s latest update: more features, languages and countries

chairmanwow1··on GitHub Copilot emits GPL code
These guys are trying so hard to smear Copilot. Similar blog post posted a few weeks ago with wild claims.

Sources would be great, but honestly not sure I would read to much into this assessment.

Idk what your background is, but if I had to guess you did research for a financial firm that sold memos or a were a consultant.

Information you present seems high quality and it may all be available on the internet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you had to talk to people offline because it’s not just on wikipedia.

All this to say, I fucking love your channel because it is well-researched. Honestly in my first read of GP’s comment, I was expecting him to critique our academic institutions for being unable to reward such content.
