cgeier··on Identity Management for Agentic AI [pdf] (2025)

cgeier··on Identity Management for Agentic AI [pdf] (2025)
Sorry for the heavy edit of the title, the original "Identity Management for Agentic AI: The new frontier of authorization, authentication, and security for an AI agent world" is much too long.
cgeier··on Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3
I'm still disappointed, that there is no S3 CNCF sponsored process. It seems to be such an important part of the cloud native ecosystem, every big use case needs some way to store blobs of data.

But no, I'm also not about to start one or try to make something like SeaweedFS a community supported project that has a chance to be picked up by the CNCF, so I'm part of the problem.

cgeier··on Amazon Germany to Accept Wero
Great. Getting some of the big businesses to accept Wero is critical for its success. Now if only my bank would support it already.
cgeier··on I co-founded Wikipedia, but an anonymous mob runs the show – and now I'm banned
Wikipedia has become a toxic place, at least for most political/partisan topics.

But if it really wants to be a community build site, it makes sense that a Co-Founder doesn't have any special rights. ("The irony is that not even a co-founder can edit it if he is attempting to implement his program of reform.")

cgeier··on Windows 95 contained a workaround for a SimCity 2000 memory bug
Sorry for the heavy editorialising of the title, but it was really much too long.
cgeier··on AI startup upgrades Euro air traffic systems and raises $5.5M
The title implies that European air traffic is now controlled by this startup's software. But "We helped modernize a 15-year-old operational application in just over one month — compared to an estimated six months using conventional development approaches." sounds more like a system not involed in air traffic control was modernised.

cgeier··on All Four Sentinel-1 Satellites Are Now Live
You are right. It should be something like “Replacement Sentinel-1 Satellite is Live, Ensuring the Future of ESA‘s Copernicus Program”
cgeier··on Qwen/Qwen3.6-27B · Hugging Face
According to (their own) benchmark, this is beating Opus 4.5. Hard to believe for such a small model.
cgeier··on The Claude Code Source Leak: fake tools, frustration regexes, undercover mode
So I guess OpenAI get's my money.
cgeier··on OpenCode – The open source AI coding agent
I‘m a big fan of OpenCode. I’m mostly using it via https://github.com/prokube/pk-opencode-webui which I built with my colleague (using OpenCode).
cgeier··on Waymo Safety Impact
Yes, it's good enough. Because you cannot control who else is on the street around you. Having cars around you that are driving safer than the average is better than them driving average.
cgeier··on Mistral raises 1.7B€, partners with ASML
I'm also wondering this. It also doesn't seem to be a coincidence, that ASML is an integral part of the semiconductor value chain.
cgeier··on Denmark to raise retirement age to 70
IMO retirement isn't a long holiday but it's for people who cannot contribute to society anymore.

That point might be reached earlier for some people, e.g. those who have a hard physical job, than others and a general retirement age is an approximation for when that point is reached for the general population.

cgeier··on ZFS 2.3 released with ZFS raidz expansion
This is huge news for ZFS users (probably mostly those in the hobbyist/home use space, but still). raidz expansion has been one of the most requested features for years.
cgeier··on Helsing at Eurorust and the Oxidation of Defense
German Eurofighters do not carry nuclear bombs. That's Tornados (and soon F35s).
cgeier··on RebrickNet – Lego Part Detector
Which works really well! Thanks for a great project!

Is there any more information available on how it works?

cgeier··on Swiss' Entire Boeing 777 Fleet Now Has Shark Skin Technology
According to Wikipedia it's about 180 widebodies for Lufthansa group

cgeier··on Passkeys: A shattered dream
How do I then get the passkey for my second device accepted by the service? Do I mail the public part to myself and insert it from my first device?
cgeier··on Vietnamese property tycoon sentenced to death in $27B fraud case
According to the article, she is called "Truong My Lan", perhaps the author's muscle memory or autocorrect was kicking in.
cgeier··on A Nigerian woman reviewed some tomato puree online. Now she faces jail
There is "she asked her 18,000 followers on Facebook to share their opinions about a tomato puree". Is jail time appropriate for that? Probably not, but she did not just review puree, she asked her followers to do it to.
cgeier··on [dead]
I personally like the Economist.

They do have a some bias, but they make that pretty clear most of the time.

The articles don't contain too much fluff or "storytelling", but mostly get very straight to the point. Also, I really like that it's a weekly magazine, no "Breaking News!!!!" type of content.

cgeier··on Both pilots of an A320 fell asleep in the cockpit for 28 minutes
You don't need ML to do this, there are already auto landing (and auto take off) systems that work very well. The hardest part is taxiing on the airport and taking part in air control procedures doesn't work at all AFAIK.

cgeier··on EU chip goal 'unrealistic' says ASML CEO
With that argument, Germany also has "full control" over those machines, as the optics are a "very important component" manufactured by Zeiss.
cgeier··on EU chip goal 'unrealistic' says ASML CEO
How does controlling one component give them control over the whole machine?
cgeier··on EU chip goal 'unrealistic' says ASML CEO
> The EU does not have a track record of staying ahead when they tangle with Asians for tech manufacturing supremacy.

Depends on your definition of "tech", see e.g. Airbus.

cgeier··on Alaska CEO: We found many loose bolts on our Max planes
This seems to be common practice at Airbus.

I recently did a public tour of one of Airbus' major assembly lines. I remember the tour guide telling us, that their customers (the airlines) either have their own QA people on the line when their planes get assembled, or pay another company to do it for them.

cgeier··on You Shouldn't Make Friends at Work
Hard disagree.

I spent a very significant amount of my waking time working. This is one of the best opportunities to make friends, and IMHO it's also nicer to work with friends than with non-friends.

Most of the friends I made as an adult came from a work related setting.
