cellular··on Creality Developing Belt-Driven Desktop 3D Printer
For a single motor, you get: a height axis, and ability for long prints, and multiple unmanned prints.

Looks stiffer too.

cellular··on Creality Developing Belt-Driven Desktop 3D Printer
Is there a slicer that can create g code to print in this angular fashion?

(So diy'ers could make one)?

I wonder what could be used for the belt? This structure actually looks easier to build and seems more sturdy.

Any idea how much this would cost? Ball park? I never bought a printer.
cellular··on How I built a keyboard/video/mouse switch for my two 4k monitors
There are full software solutions that just show the screen over the network and relay your mouse/keyboard to whichever machine is on focus.

It worked well enough that I'd forget which pc the kvm s were actually connected to. But I was only programming, not gaming, so maybe the 60Hz would be a problem. no hurt to try. It was free and there were a couple software solutions.

cellular··on GPT-3 generated blog post reach #1 on Hacker News
I couldn't read this article. I was convinced it was another AI generated text. I just scrolled to the bottom to see if I was right. Then didn't read anyway because it could still probably be an ai.

You guys saw the last ai generated text about ai generated text-right?

cellular··on A free video streaming service that runs on a ESP32
Instead of using cloud aws, could an sd card be used?

Might be cool to have harry potter picture frames for the cost of the sscard and esp (assuming free flatscreen vga with component-in).

cellular··on Stanford cancels plans to bring half of undergrads back to campus
That's a good observation. I'll be on the lookout too now!
cellular··on Stanford cancels plans to bring half of undergrads back to campus
Dang! That is something I had not considered before!

I think that would be a great strategy! Spending the money on hobby groups, conferences etc could be put on a resume!

Now thinking of all kinds of options that would give better experience...it seems driving to these might be the bottleneck. But surely there are ones that can subject a student to different opinion/people etc without needing to commute. Heck even a good internship could replace dorm life, and would actually PAY the student.

cellular··on Never use a dependency that you could replace with an afternoon of programming
But "it's a good problem to have"!
cellular··on Star Citizen Alpha 3.10
If we are too old, we can watch our kids play this game... eventually.
cellular··on Hugelkultur: Raised Garden Beds
Yes! Observation is what made me forget about well drained raised beds in Texas! Now, I waterproof my raised beds to keep in moisture. They are so much better! It's crazy to have conventional raised beds in Texas! I make YouTube videos about it. https://youtu.be/HrVOONqgdsE
cellular··on Is It Time to Kill the Penny?
I want to keep the penny, so it's cost keeps inflation down. The lowly penny could be worth more than a penny, and this can fight inflation.
cellular··on First new “The Far Side” cartoons from Gary Larson since 1995
A pun? "Bears eating cub's scouts"?
cellular··on Analysis of all YouTube trending videos in US for 2019
Soon, it will be back to 8 minutes. YouTube is changing the required length for mid-video ads.
cellular··on Gödel Incompleteness for Startups (2013)
I think psycohistory would also be a requirement!
cellular··on Gödel Incompleteness for Startups (2013)
Applying Gödel's incompleteness theorem to search for unprovably, would-be, successful companies requires the searcher to develop axioms and rigorous math to know "This startup is an unprovable case and should be tested".

I really doubt axioms have even been assigned to this problem.

cellular··on New nuclear reactor designs promise safe, clean electricity
I read that, because it is uninhabitable to humans, wild life is flourishing in that area! And forests are taking over!
cellular··on Does Time Flow? New Clues Come from a Century-Old Approach to Math
Excellent insight! Time, itself, is slowed as motion is limited to only 1 dimension as you approach the speed of light. It's all related. I think few understand the significance of this: https://youtu.be/A-2XQQDD6QQ
cellular··on Experiment finds that gravity still works down to 50 micrometers
On very small scale the force would be very very high as the denominator, d^2, goes to zero. What limits the denominator going to zero? Could a close distance really be what leads to the strong or weak force?
cellular··on The Xenobots, Virtual Creatures Brought to Life
I wonder if they could use simple rules to get emergent behaviour like this: https://youtu.be/gaFKqOBTj9w
cellular··on Snap: Build Your Own Blocks
Haha!
cellular··on Italy is extending its coronavirus quarantine measures to the entire country
I don't feel it was transmitted 10x in ten days. Those people were already infected. Otherwise, you'd have to wait a couple weeks for them to become symptomatic to know to test them. (Unless they are testing everybody, and the 10x included people that weren't symptomatic).
cellular··on Routed Gothic Font
Brick Hect would be proud.
cellular··on Haven: turn old Android phones into security cameras
I wish phones would work with no battery when plugged in. What resistor value, and where did you place the resistor to be able to boot without a battery?
cellular··on There could be meteors hitting the atmosphere close to the speed of light
I wonder what counts as sub relativistic speed for a meteor?

cellular··on There’s no homunculus in our brain who guides us
Turn left where the old Johnson house used to be, then keep going until 2 miles before the gas station, then turn right. Some Chevy Chase movie=funny farm?
cellular··on I opened a link some random person sent me and I got raided (2015)
Hey random person, I'm not falling for it!
cellular··on UFO: Pilot who spotted famous Tic Tac breaks silence after 15 years
Hmm, it seems like we could see behind our sun with our space probes
cellular··on Why autonomous finance apps are so important
It might back fire: Currently, banks need to offer enough incentive to motivate a human to spend time to switch. This will benefit the lone deal seeker.

OTOH, a never-ending bidding to get a customer's money might give a better result, on average, for everyone involved.

cellular··on S&P 500 Buybacks Now Outpace All R&D Spending in the US
>> and the $9.7M in shares you didn't sell which are still worth the same amount

"Worth the same amount" as what value? 10 million? If so, then doesn't that also create 10.3M in value (ie created 300k from nothing)?
