cdot2··on 89% of 2024 sexual offences in England went unsolve
I was under the impression that this has been verifiably true for years now.
cdot2··on US Supreme Court curbed public scrutiny as it boosted security before Roe ruling
Or that they're aware that there are threats against their safety.
cdot2··on US Supreme Court curbed public scrutiny as it boosted security before Roe ruling
So they don't want the public to have details regarding their security processes. Why is it in the public interest to know when the shift change is for the guards at the supreme court?
cdot2··on Meta's memo to employees rolling back DEI programs
That doesn't feel very "positive" if you're not in those groups
cdot2··on TSMC's Arizona Plant to Start Making Advanced Chips
"They force other countries to have maximally free trade with the world bank/IMF"

The US has the influence to force other countries to act in the US's best interest as well. It's pragmatic.

cdot2··on TSMC's Arizona Plant to Start Making Advanced Chips
You're mad that the US is acting in it's own best interest?
cdot2··on Casual Viewing – Why Netflix looks like that
I'll listen to audiobooks while running on a treadmill but not when running outside.

cdot2··on Phugoid
"Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, Captain of US Airways Flight 1549 that ditched in the Hudson River on January 15, 2009, said in a Google talk that the landing could have been less violent had the anti-phugoid software installed on the Airbus A320-214 not prevented him from manually getting maximum lift during the four seconds before water impact."

That's pretty interesting. Should pilots be able to disable all control-limiting software manually?

cdot2··on Torpedo juice: Legendary, illegal WWII liquor drunk in Alaska and the world
If I remember correctly part of the issue was that they used magnetic detector based firing systems and only tested them off the coast of California. When they fired them elsewhere the Earth's magnetic field was different enough that the detonators failed.

cdot2··on Inside the Transport for London cyberattack
All of this IT infrastructure exists to ensure the exact opposite of what you said. It ensures that rich people don't get to ride the bus for free.
cdot2··on Metabolic and Cellular Differences Between Sedentary and Active Individuals
I realize this is a very preliminary study but 19 individuals is a very low sample size
cdot2··on The Marshmallow Test does not reliably predict adult functioning
It's almost like Psych and other social 'sciences' as a whole are unscientific and should be considered liberal arts fields.
cdot2··on Texas poised to get own stock exchange – with less red tape than NYSE or Nasdaq
That wouldn't affect the number of people who had power outages which is the metric mentioned earlier
cdot2··on Texas poised to get own stock exchange – with less red tape than NYSE or Nasdaq
Texas actually has roughly average electric grid reliability compared to other states (28 out of 50) while also having substantially below average electricity costs.

Texas also recently announced a program to build a series of distributed small nuclear reactors around the state which is cool.

cdot2··on Supreme Court: There's No 'Time Limit' on Copyright Infringement Claims
> Can commuted and pardoned cases be reheard once the elected executive is out of office, if there no limit to the statute of limitations?

That would be a double-jeopardy issue.

The states are semi-soverign entities. The federal government does not have the authority to disband them.

cdot2··on GM buys out nearly half of its Buick dealers, who opt to not sell EVs
Losing dealers can also mean lower overhead costs. If those dealers were costing more than they were making I see how it can be spun as (at least a temporary) benefit
cdot2··on Persuasion through status rather than argument
Everyone believes their ideology is based on reason and not determined by their sociotope. My sociotope just happens to be the most reasonable one.
cdot2··on Optimism vs. Pessimism in Distributed Systems
I think by "something is wrong" you mean that data has changed and if data hasn't changed then the coordinating method of a distributed system isn't very relevant
