casperc··on Every new car sold in the European Union must include a driver monitoring camera
For VW cars, that has been severely limited as well from 2024 with SFD2, which requires a token from VW. Quite sad really.
casperc··on New gel restores dental enamel and could revolutionise tooth repair
Any reports from actual users of this?
casperc··on Astronomers confirm the existence of a lone black hole
Very cool. Is there a place I can read up on this?
casperc··on Astronomers confirm the existence of a lone black hole
How does a black hole this small stay together. I assumed it was gravity pushing against the atomic forces.

Is it a case of once you black, you never go back?

casperc··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
I might also mention elections being compromised. It is another clear target for Russia with an extremely high payoff. Feel certain they have not managed to hack the election?
casperc··on Can solar costs keep shrinking?
Can you recommend some resources for building and sourcing a solar setup like this?
casperc··on A Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet from Hell Slowed Williams' F1 Cars for Years
I wonder, what is the current in-favor issue tracking tool if Jora is out?
casperc··on US not hiding aliens or UFO technology from the public, Pentagon says
I like this breakdown of the observations: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HlYwktOj75A&t=39s&pp=ygUPa2V2a...

Basically, if we are soon able to accelerate at 5000g, then interstellar flight is quite possible. In which case I would like to see the suns set on a world orbiting binary stars, please.

casperc··on Physical cash is dying–and you don't need to be a conspiracist to worry
Well to be fair, in my country (Denmark), that is mostly the case. For normal purchases, using cash is very much not the norm.

But paying a carpenter, cleaner or similar, who will give a lower rate (and not pay income tax and VAT), that is very much the norm (though socially frowned upon). Also drugs I guess.

casperc··on Freetar – an alternative front end for ultimate-guitar.com
Love the return to text based chords/tabs (without all the other crap on top). That is all that is needed really. This guitar/tab space is ripe for disruption if you ask me.
casperc··on NASA clears the air: No evidence that UFOs are aliens
Yup, we need more data, and it appears the ball is somewhat rolling on this.

And meanwhile we need to try to not jump to conclusions, even though it is so very tempting for believers and sceptics alike.

But interesting is the field or subject of ufology (though I hate that word). It is so mixed with crazy people, very reasonable people, grifters, those who are maybe grifters, disinformation (maybe or just the crazy people or grifters again?) and maybe some real interesting stuff among it all.

casperc··on Evernote has laid off most of its US staff and will move operations to Europe
I guess that will vary a fair bit on the country in Europe. Which country/countries where you in?
casperc··on GitHub Copilot Chat Leaked Prompt
Interesting there is not a layer put on top of the model response to filter out the secrets that it might spill.

If it really was that secret I guess they would though.

casperc··on Writing a Kubernetes Operator
What would be a good example where an operator would make sense?
casperc··on As a US Navy fighter pilot, I witnessed unidentified anomalous phenomena
I would not say he admitted it. More like told it as a funny anecdote in juxtaposition to what he experienced.
casperc··on As a US Navy fighter pilot, I witnessed unidentified anomalous phenomena
It’s weird, given the premise of seeing something alien, that you would assume properties of their propulsion or which emmissions they are making.

Sure, if the thing is some new earth tech or natural phenomena there are plenty of assumptions you can make. But in the face of something else?

casperc··on Honey consumption improves blood sugar and cholesterol levels, study suggests
Well that settles it then…
casperc··on Why are male testosterone levels falling?
How does it work to increase testoterone? Just medication?
casperc··on I spent $3k on a Samsung Smart TV and all I got were ads and unwanted content
Well, my TV is older, but I don’t use an external speaker.

But because of laziness I suppose, but also because I don’t want a sub-woofer type sound. Also don’t want a second remote.

I am sure those things can avoided, so I am open to advice on what to get.

casperc··on US quietly urges more use of Russia fertilizer to ease food crisis
To be clear, these links do not not support the specific claims being made by the poster (although being related).
casperc··on Show HN: Redditle.com – For those of us who add 'Reddit' to every Google search
For me it is good to find an honest discussion of a thing (e.g. tool, tv series) rather than whatever paid-for article or review which would otherwise appear first.
casperc··on Emergent Behavior in Skyrim's Fox AI
It reminds me of Onyxia in WoW, where the leading theory for a long time was that you needed Damage over time spells (DoTs) on her to prevent her from doing her damaging fire breaths, which would wipe the entire raid group. Turns out it was just random (confirmed by a developer long after), but it is interesting the meaning that can and will be assigned to random events. Probably the same mechanism that causes myths and eventually religion to form in real life.
casperc··on Germany locks down unvaccinated people, as leaders plan to make shots compulsory
News to me! Could you provide sources for this?
casperc··on Vizio makes more money spying on people who buy TVs than TVs themselves
Any example of this you can name?

Not doubting you, I just never heard of it before. So it would be something to keep in mind.

casperc··on Apple to face EU antitrust charge over NFC chip
App store was my expectation, but this has probably been in the works for a longer time.
casperc··on Ask HN: Is anyone monitoring popular apps to check if they're listening?
Can all apps access information on the wifi hotspot that a user is connnected to? Seems like an information leak that should be closed by Apple/Google.
casperc··on FBI releases 9/11 investigation document that scrutinized Saudis
May I ask the HN community what your thoughts are om this?

I always felt there are two parts of the “truthers”: the same crowd that is now denying covid and the ones representing this point of view.

The insanity is overshadowing the reasonable people in the truther movement, but in isolation this video (and ones like it) really makes me wonder.

casperc··on Nvidia Shield TV Owners Are Pissed About the Banner Ads in Android TV
I use an ad blocker. On mobile (Safati) this means that I get a blank screen for a while where the af would have been playing. Much better than the ad. I can also just reload and the video starts.
casperc··on GME stock halted trading after +103% daily
How do we know that there are shorts and the amount of them?
casperc··on The universe is expanding faster than expected
I would love to hear someone talk about this actually as it has been my pet theory for the last 15 years since high school physics.

My reasoning was p = mv. m drops (through various processes in a star emitting energi==mass) and since p is constant, v increases.

Probably totally naive, but it is just a thought which has stuck around with me.
