* Sadly I'm missing a single really important Add-on and there are some annoying and apparently long-standing bugs that have been ignored and I've had to work around, but otherwise it's a major improvement and it's good enough to work with.
* I'm glad that they've ditched the rounded tabs and cleaned up the interface.
* I'm still annoyed that Pocket is integrated into everything without an option to disable it.
* It is dramatically improved in speed and stability.
* The browser animations are very pleasant.
I'm giving it a chance to shine for the next week or so, if there are no blockers I'll probably end up sticking with it.
* Study authors are tied to dairy farming and, animal and poultry farming.
* America is never going to be a vegan, or even vegetarian nation. There are too many jobs tied up in fattening cattle and pigs to go that route.
* Americans manliness is tied up into how much they kill, it's not going to happen.
* There are some horrific oversights such as the fact that a large portion of our farming is already for animal feed. Something like 800 million people could be fed if we planted different crops instead of animal feed.
* There is literally no reason to go vegan instead of vegetarian for most people. Almost all the ethical reasons behind veganism can be routed around with minimal effort.
* As someone who eats a mostly vegan diet, the dietary concerns for the vast majority of people are nonsensical. Yes, of course there are exceptions to everything, but there are entire countries that are mostly vegan/vegetarian that don't have these issues. B vitamins and calcium? Has his person done zero research? Both are absurdly easy to obtain in vegan form in the local grocery store of most somewhat populated areas right now, if everyone was vegan these would be staple foods.
This is absolutely the worst kind of sensationalized junk science to once again discredit a lifestyle that affects no one negatively.
Now realistically airlines aren't thieves, they generally have a hard time with their profit margins, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be severely regulated.
Edit: I'm seeing the researcher saying they aren't storing an image but I'm not seeing where they say they aren't.
Edit 2: They are apparently storing a link to the image on the internet, but aren't storing the image itself, which again leads me to wonder how the hash is being generated. The image has to be uploaded to the servers at some point. Is it then deleted?
The issue is that the data can't be conclusive unless you have an issue where you took two groups of people, gave them the same economic starting point, gave them the same systemic disadvantage, same opportunities and then could make a determination as to whether or not it has anything to do with culture.
Or you could easily look into the fact that economically there is a long history of repressing people of color and that systemic collection of repressions them still exist leading to the exact outcome expected, but still blame those people for "not picking themselves up by their bootstraps". It's as though you haven't seen Trading Places.
* Person X is in charge of a group and has an idea for a coding project
* Person Y decides to volunteer some coding time
* Person X, with full authority to do so ends, the purely voluntary relationship
* Person Y now decides that they are a co-founder and has equal rights and starts demanding compensation for the project that doesn't exist but could potentially exist in the future. They also continue to fire off emails becoming more demanding after it's made clear that the relationship has been terminated.
Were this an open source project people would think what the contributor is doing is insane. That's clearly harassment. If I fire someone on a Friday and they show up on a Monday saying that they have a right to the company's future earnings and oh, by the way, do you want this t-shirt I made about the company, I'm going to call the police.
* Slashdot faded because new buyers came in who didn't understand the product.
* RSS still exists and is going strong. It just does the job without the flash, the reason content producers don't like it is that you can't monetize it in the same way as email. I personally use TheOldReader for curating this.
* I'm going to add Sourceforge as a site that shot themselves in the face. It seems like it's newest owners have done a lot to try and repair the damage.
Raindrop looks fantastic, I'm glad you brought it up. I'm guessing we few are the kind of people keeping this type of service alive.
