canelonesdeverd··on Will Open Source Survive the Agents That Replaced It?
What does "getting with the times even mean" at this point? Just bending over and taking on all the griefing and bullying?

Btw luddites are the reason you're not slaving away at a factory.

canelonesdeverd··on Amiga Unix, Again
Really sad to reduce ourselves to meat-proxies.
canelonesdeverd··on Microsoft exec called AI scraping 'the largest theft of labor in human history'
The comment seems in line with real life, while your catchphrase about democratization is more like wishful thinking.
canelonesdeverd··on Is it time for a Luddite Renaissance?
Yes, money is God and companies are his saints. Keep your head down and surrender everything to them
canelonesdeverd··on Claude is only available to people over 18 years
This level of psychosis makes me wonder if adults should be banned from using AI as well.
canelonesdeverd··on I think I hate the internet
Won't somebody think of the struggling megacorporations?
canelonesdeverd··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
A bit concerning how some people in this thread will bend over backwards to defend mass surveillance. Not surprising given who owns the board, but still.
canelonesdeverd··on Programming is Art
>AI in 20 years will very likely produce art indistinguishable and as profound as human art.

If you see art only as more "content" to be mindlessly consumed, maybe.

canelonesdeverd··on Omarchy development practices lead to predictable security issues
"Linux has been infected by le woke mob and we're making it Great Again"
canelonesdeverd··on Microsoft fire idTech team at Id software
"How much value can this bring?" Is the question that the incompetents at microslop needed to ask themselves before absorbing half the industry, not the smug justification for killing great tech after failing to capitalize on it. Specially when it brought great value to the industry for decades.
canelonesdeverd··on I admire Fabrice Bellard. He is almost certainly a better overall programmer
>some member of The Tribe >his Ring getting kissed >all the betas

Wow the quality of online discourse is really in the gutter.

canelonesdeverd··on How to earn a billion dollars
If someone could pick and choose jobs they wouldn't be a warehouse worker, come on now.
canelonesdeverd··on Making Graphics Like it's 1993
>Unrealistic, ridiculous

So, a videogame?

canelonesdeverd··on Artificial intelligence is not conscious
> It should be easy enough to explain why that’s incorrect then

I'd say people who have the lived experience of, well, living, are well aware that the brain is much more than just a token predictor.

canelonesdeverd··on KDE at 30
Resources and Mission Center are really good.
canelonesdeverd··on Leo's first encyclical attacks technological messianism
It's telling that the most frequent attempt at a counter-argument is just thinly-veiled misanthropy.
canelonesdeverd··on Spain blocks prediction markets Polymarket, Kalshi over lack of gambling licence
>It’s icky to see someone make a moral argument to have something banned

Which are valid arguments in your opinion?

canelonesdeverd··on Pope Leo XIV says AI must serve humanity, not the powerful few
You are beyond mentally ill. Seek professional help because you are losing touch with reality.
canelonesdeverd··on Pope Leo XIV says AI must serve humanity, not the powerful few
>and defends abortion before and after birth

abortion after birth? as in, killing a newborm baby? what are you even talking about

canelonesdeverd··on Programming Still Sucks
> How come is anyone "entitled" to a decent living?

kind of the point of living in a civilized society i reckon

canelonesdeverd··on SDL bans AI-written commits
10/10 parody, perfectly nailed the delusion.
canelonesdeverd··on LÖVE: 2D Game Framework for Lua
Cloudfare got pretty far with nginx+luajit before switching to rust, iirc
canelonesdeverd··on The Technocracy Movement of the 1930s
>what has he got wrong?

For starters, Greta Thunberg doesn't seem to be the antichrist.

canelonesdeverd··on Steam on Linux Use Skyrocketed Above 5% in March
If you are a gamedev considering native support for linux then you are using the steam runtime (i.e. a debian container) anyways.
canelonesdeverd··on Jury finds Meta liable in case over child sexual exploitation on its platforms
Whatever point you're trying to make I hope you realize it's not a good look to phrase it like that.
canelonesdeverd··on A Eulogy for Vim
I disagree, I think the over-reliance in these tools turns AI providers into the final gatekeepers of the profession. And with the raising prices of hardware, I'm afraid AI will make computing as a whole inaccessible to most people.
