camus_absurd··on A Beginner's Guide to Switches
You may have a hot-swap style keyboard. The switches are designed to pull out easily in order to change switch types.

Not banned, you just have to go through some hoops to enable installation of third party kernel extensions

camus_absurd··on Show HN: AI detects resume "red flags"
This is exactly what I don’t want AI to be used for. It opens up so many avenues of potential abuse by the employer and is dehumanizing to people job searching. Add this to the dumpster fire of inappropriate use of LLMS.
camus_absurd··on Evidence of 'Negative Time' Found in Quantum Physics Experiment
A lot of physics experiments are very indirect, and you're not actually measuring the 'thing' you're looking for. As an example, in particle collision experiments, you're often looking at how the resulting collisions behave, and then applying our current understanding and models to reason about why the resulting collisions behave the way they do. Basically, it's like saying, 'This particle X had Y behavior, which is explained by our current model that says there must be a Z interacting with X to produce Y.' This is, of course, an extreme simplification, but it illustrates why we can claim with a high level of confidence that certain 'unmeasurable' things must exist.

For #4, I don’t think scaling should be a major issue as the tooling industry has been manufacturing at scale for decades now. The only real difference is the customer

This made me physically cringe with sadness. I’d love to even find one and people are just tossing them.

This comment clearly comes from a place of ignorance. This attitude is part of the problem too. You just need to listen to them and they can tell you all they ways that people have been bothering them. Just because you can’t conceptualize how life can be hard when you have an incongruity between your physical body and mental self, it doesn’t mean that you can hand wave away other people’s struggles with this attitude of “ahhh they’re fine no one’s bothering them”. Shift your perspective to see the problem
camus_absurd··on Electrical detection of RNA cancer biomarkers at the single-molecule level
I think you’re overestimating the complexity of an stm setup. There exist small coffee machine sized stm machines because the principal behind the operation is relatively straightforward. People have made diy stm machines using piezo electric buzzers as the component that moves a tungsten needle over a sample. It’s relatively easy to make atomically thick tungsten needle points because of how it fractures along its grain structure. The tech behind the principle of operation of an stm is already ubiquitous.
